El P. Patera y el P. Damián
Antes de ir a Roma a la canonización del P. Damián, quiero compartir con nuestros amigos lectores un texto que nos ha enviado fray Isidoro Macías, más conocido como el P. Patera, que acaba de publicar la revista 21. Muchos son los testimonios de admiración y de cariño que despierta Damián. En el caso del P. Patera una admiración que se traduce en un compromiso concreto y eficaz a favor de los que más desamparados están, como es el caso de nuestros hermanos inmigrantes que llegan a nuestras costas.
A la vuelta de la canonización seguro que os contamos más cosas. Os dejo con nuestro P. Patera.
“Damián, hermano de llamada y de camino,
misionero feliz y generoso,
que amaste el Evangelio más que tu vida”.
Estas palabras hechas oración no podían venir mejor a alguien tan grande que sirve de ejemplo, a tantos amantes de Dios que, de un modo u otro, intentamos seguir las enseñanzas del Señor a través de tantos cristos vivientes que tenemos a nuestro alrededor. Estoy convencido de que, de haber nacido en otra época, y haber tenido oportunidad de empaparme del carisma de este hombre de Dios, entregado a los enfermos sin distinción de raza o religión, hubiéramos congeniado más que bien, porque amamos a Dios por encima de todo y nuestra ley es el amor. Porque Dios es amor.
El beato Damián de Molokai fue un ejemplo ayer, hoy y siempre porque, además de entregar su vida entera por los demás, desde la humildad y la esperanza constante en el corazón, nos contagia a pesar del paso del tiempo de esa alegría nacida del dolor. Por eso, estamos de fiesta con su próxima canonización, porque su reconocimiento es el reflejo de que sigue vivo. Y, este hombre que pasó por el mundo viviendo el evangelio, hoy continúa demostrando que el amor sigue moviendo el mundo. Gracias, beato Damián.
En todas partes del mundo donde nos encontramos los SS.CC. estamos trabajando para que todos de alguna manera puedan participar de la Canonización, así como Damian fue misionero nosotros como Comunidad lo seguimos. Falta muy poco… estamos a la espera
