Acertar una vez con algo que llama la atención por su mérito y su acierto, es relativamente fácil. Mantenerse en esa línea de acción, es bastante más difícil. Eso queda demostrado con bastante frecuencia: los “niños prodigio” del cine, las personas que “tocan la flauta por casualidad”, el que gana un trofeo en cualquier modalidad; pero, muchas veces, es para esa persona el primero y el último de los éxitos. Un cineasta puede lograr hacer una película que gane el Oscar… pero no sabe o no puede, a veces, mantenerse en el candelero… Pues bien, ese es el caso de Amenábar con su última película: ÁGORA.
Fui a verla con el interés de algo que te han anunciado hasta la saciedad, y con el respaldo de una buena acogida de público. Y me decepcionó. Encontré un Amenábar históricamente mal informado, ideológicamente tocado por un “anti”, que no le deja ser libre, ni honesto ni veraz.
Ha hecho un gran montaje; eso es verdad. Y creo que meritorio; un buen movimiento de masas, y no mal fotografía. Pero algo le ha traicionado en su manera de descubrir y presentar el cristianismo de los primeros siglos. No, señor Amenábar, así no se puede hacer una película creíble. Hay que ser más objetivo, mejor historiador, y tener menos “antis”. No sé qué tiene contra los cristianos, si es que tiene algo contra ellos. Porque pensar que es ignorancia, me cuesta más creerlo.
Me llevé una gran decepción viendo su película que es un gran gigante… que tiene los pies de barro. Espero que su próxima película pueda merecer mejor crítica por mi parte, como lo han tenido otras.
