Donde dije “digo”… digo “Diego”
Con qué facilidad hay gente que cambia de opinión, con la misma facilidad que el viento cambia de dirección. Es verdad que un refrán dice que “de sabios es rectificar”. Pero para rectificar algo que anteriormente se ha afirmado, hay que estar seguro de que la rectificación es la acertada; porque de lo contrario habría que estar rectificando constantemente. Además no se rectifica o cambia de opinión a la ligera, sino con razones suficientemente importantes.
Toda esta breve reflexión, viene a cuento por la última declaración del astrofísico Stephen Hawking (65 años), conocido por sus investigaciones sobre agujeros negros y los orígenes del Universo.
El sabio astrofísico había sostenido hasta ahora, que “el mundo había sido creado por Dios”. Pero hete aquí que, de la noche a la mañana, cambia de opinión, y afirma que el universo “no ha sido creado por Dios”. Y construye unos argumentos de orden filosófico (que no es lo suyo), y que no tienen ninguna fuerza probatoria. Tal vez algún día, más adelante, este científico de renombre se atreva a darnos algunas razones más convincentes de su nueva teoría. Por ahora no ha hecho otra cosa que repetir aquello de: “Donde dije “digo”, ahora digo “diego”.
La declaración de Hawking ha sorprendido en todo el mundo; de hecho, diversas Revistas y Diarios se han hecho eco de su declaración.
Por el contrario, otro científico, Francis Collins, premio Príncipe de Asturias de 2001, director del Proyecto Genoma Humano, ha declarado:”Creo que el universo fue creado por Dios”. Y continúa: “La existencia de un Dios fuera del Universo (del tiempo y del espacio) es la única explicación racional válida para explicar la naturaleza que observamos. Como científico descubro en la exploración de la naturaleza una vía de comprensión de la mente de Dios, a quien se le puede encontrar tanto en el laboratorio como en una catedral”.
Siempre he admirado a Stephen Hawking, un hombre tan limitado físicamente y con una dedicación admirable a la investigación en el campo de la astrofísica. Sus declaraciónes sobre Dios, no disminuye mi aprecio y admiración por él. Pero desde ahora tendrá un hueco en mi oración, pidiendo a ese Dios, que no descubre como autor del Universo, para que algún día se le haga el encontradizo, bien en las galaxias y agujeros negros, bien en su corazón.
