Nombramientos con alto secreto
El papa acaba de nombrar como obispo auxiliar de Sevilla a Don Santiago Gómez Sierra. Una vez más el secretismo y la sorpresa se han repetido en el nombramiento de un obispo. Como todo el mundo sabe, la elección de un candidato para pastor de una diócesis, se lleva por parte de los encargados vaticanos, con una cautela y secreto llevado al extremo. Son muchos los consultados sobre las cualidades e idoneidades del presunto, o presuntos, candidatos. Pero todos tienen los labios sellados, como si de un secreto de confesión se tratara. De “luz y taquígrafos”, nada de nada. Todo lo contrario.
Y una vez más surge la pregunta: ¿por qué tanta oscuridad en la Iglesia? ¿Por qué los fieles cristianos (iglesia viva) no pueden estar enterados de las gestiones que se hacen para designar un obispo? ¿Por qué, al menos, los fieles a donde va destinado el nuevo obispo, no pueden tener una palabra en su nombramiento? Si no se puede hacer una consulta masiva de toda la población directamente afectada, al menos se podría hacer por representaciones o delegaciones de las distintas parroquias y entidades eclesiásticas. Lo importante sería desterrar el secretismo, como si fuese un asunto particular y exclusivo del nuncio y del papa. ¿Hasta cuándo la iglesia va a seguir siendo solo (no lo acentúo según las nuevas normas gramaticales de la Real Academia Española) la jerarquía?
Sin querer entrar en polémica sobre lo acertado o desacertado del nombramiento en cuestión, no cabe duda de que para mucha gente le va a resultar un tanto extraño. Ya surgen titulares como estos, en los medios de comunicación:”el Vaticano asciende al expresidente de Cajasur que arruinó la entidad”; “el cura Santiago Gómez Sierra, último presidente de Cajasur y responsable de la entidad cordobesa en su ruinosa etapa económica final, ha sido ascendido por el Vaticano a obispo auxiliar de Sevilla”; el sacerdote está expedientado por el Banco de España”. Etc…
Por otra parte, es de dominio público, que dicho nombramiento se ha realizado a petición expresa del actual arzobispo de Sevilla, Juan José Asenjo, para quien anteriormente fue su hombre de confianza en Córdoba. ¿Se puede entender como un premio a su fidelidad? ¿Es, tal vez, un caso de amiguismo? Dejémoslo estar. Sean lo que sean unas cosas y otras, lo cierto es que, una vez más, este nombramiento viene a causar malestar y sorpresa en muchos cristianos.
He dicho muchas veces que, aunque la Iglesia no pueda ser una democracia, sin embargo un estilo más democrático y participativo le sentaría muy bien, y tendría más credibilidad, al mismo tiempo que todos los fieles se sentirían mucho más responsables de las decisiones y actuaciones de su iglesia. Por ahora, no parece que sople el viento por esas latitudes. Esperemos que el tiempo vaya ayudando a madurar ciertas actitudes, para bien de la Iglesia en general y una mayor implicación de todos los creyentes. Creo que es una de las cosas que podemos llevar a la oración, “porque si el Señor no construye la casa, en vano se cansan los albañiles” (Sal.126).

Muy bien, Susana. La unión hace la fuerza. Y la oración común tiene más fuerza. Confiemos en que las aguas vayan yendo a su cauce.
Lo importante es que el Señor construya la casa. Quien sea los albañiles es algo secundario siempre que se siga el plano que dibuja el Arquitecto.
