Los “mass media”
Los llamados “Mass Media”, o medios de comunicación masiva (prensa, radio, TV…) son instrumentos de doble filo. Su principal objetivo es el de informar, formar, divertir… Pero, a veces la información se convierte en desinformación, la formación en deformación, y el divertir en chabacanismo de mal gusto. Ese es el doble filo a que hago referencia. Todas las cosas, en principio buenas y útiles, corren el peligro de convertirse en dañinas; unas veces para los niños, porque no se saben regular los horarios de emisión (TV); otras veces para los adultos, cuando la información es partidista o desorientadora; otras veces para todos porque no se tienen en cuenta las normas de la verdad o la moralidad…
El trabajo del periodista, del informador, es ser objetivo con la noticia, y no tratar de manipularla en su provecho o en el de su ideología. Trabajo poco fácil, pero indispensable.
Muchas veces no nos percatamos de la falta de honestidad o de la falsedad (a enteras o a medias) de la información, porque su mecanismo es muy sibilino, o sencillamente nos falta sentido crítico. Un caso bien claro es el de los políticos, sobre todo en tiempos de “campaña”. ¡Cuánta mentira! ¡Cuántas medias verdades! Pero, incluso, aquello que podría parecer más inocuo y objetivo, como son los Telediarios (los informativos), pueden contener una buena carga de partidismo, según el canal por donde nos llegue la noticia. Las mismas canciones del momento, disfrazan las palabras; muchas ellas hablan de amor, desvirtuando esta palabra tan hermosa.
Hay algunos programas televisivos que son francamente inmorales (no hablo de sexo); programas que no respetan la intimidad y privacidad de las personas, de las parejas, de las amistades. Programas que sólo buscan el “espectáculo” a costa de lo profesionalmente incorrecto. Programas que, como el escarabajo pelotero, buscan y se recrean en la basura más abyecta.
Lo malo de esto es que son los programas que más se ven, o que tienen un abundante público abonado. Cuanto más borde sea el programa más espectadores atrae. Eso refleja bastante la cultura de un pueblo, por una parte, y la necesidad de sensaciones fuertes, por otro; además de la inclinación, casi innata, al “chismorreo”.
Lo mismo pasa con las noticias sesgadas, o con la interpretación que se hace de la noticia. No digamos ya de la mentira y la exageración de la publicidad: todo es lo mejor, y si no lo posees, eres un desgraciado.
Si esos programas no tuvieran espectadores, dejarían de existir; pero lo malo es que los tienen.
