De la amistad y de los amigos
Muchas veces he pensado en lo que supone una buena amistad, y lo necesario y bueno que es tener amigos. Hablo de amigos, no de compañeros. Hablo de amistad, no de meros buenas relaciones. Compañeros: de trabajo, de juego, de peña… pueden ser muchos; pero amigos, son necesariamente pocos. Y es una suerte tenerlos. Decía el novelista y poeta R.L. Estevenson, que “Mientras se tenga al menos un amigo, nadie es inútil”. Y otros han dicho cosas hermosas sobre la amistad:
- La amistad es como la salud, nunca sabemos valorarla suficientemente, hasta que la perdemos.
- Si sientes que todo perdió su sentido, siempre habrá un ¨te quiero¨, siempre habrá un amigo. Un amigo es una persona con la que se puede pensar en voz alta.
- El verdadero amigo es aquel que a pesar de saber cómo eres, te quiere.
- El verdadero amigo es aquél que está a tu lado cuando preferiría estar en otra parte.
- Amigos son aquellos extraños seres que nos preguntan cómo estamos, y se esperan a oír la contestación.
- El amigo nos dice las cosas desagradables a la cara; el enemigo las dice a nuestras espaldas y como no nos enteramos, nada ocurre.
- Los amigos son como la sangre, cuando se está herido acuden sin que se los llame.
Por todo ello, los amigos no se hacen a la ligera, ni por un encuentro fortuito; se necesita un tiempo, como el pan que se introduce en el horno, y hay que esperar a que esté bien cocido. Hay personas que a todos llaman amigos, pero en realidad no tienen ninguno. No todas las personas pueden ser amigos, aunque se tengan buenas relaciones con todos, incluso mejores con unos que con otros. Jauja no existe.
También hay quien se hace pasar por amigo, para aprovecharse. Pronto se le descubre. El amigo de verdad nunca te traiciona. Si lo hace, es que no era amigo. Por eso, cuando Judas Iscariote, allá en Getsemaní, se acerca a Jesús, le da un beso de amigo. Pero es el beso de la traición. Sin embargo, Jesús, tratando de hacerle reflexionar, le dice: Amigo, ¿a qué has venido? Le llama amigo porque siempre lo ha tenido como tal, y no se arrepiente de ello.
Distinto es el caso de Pedro, que por miedo dice no conocer a Jesús. Pero su amistad no se ha roto. Sigue la amistad, y por eso dice el Evangelio que lloró amargamente su desliz. Y Jesús lo comprendió y siguió siendo su amigo hasta nombrarle responsable de la futura Iglesia.

Susana, amiga: eso de tirar en todas las direcciones de uno para situarlo en el lugar apropiado, incluso para desistalarlo si fuere necesario, es una buena práctica entre amigos. No cabe duda. El amigo no es el que te halaga constantemente, sino el que de vez en cuando te da un tirón de orejas si lo mereces.
