Rezar en tiempos difíciles
¡A más ocupaciones, más oración! Esta afirmación, a primera vista, parece poco realista, poco lógica. Lo que parecería más normal es que si tenemos muchas ocupaciones, nos quede menos tiempo para rezar… y por tanto recemos menos.
Quiero empezar este post citando a Lutero, que decía:”Hoy tengo mucho que rezar, porque tengo mucho que hacer”. ¡Qué raro se hace escuchar esto! Cuantas veces escuchamos (y tal vez decimos): “tengo tanto que hacer, que no me queda tiempo para rezar”.
Y sin embargo, no puedo menos de estar de acuerdo con la afirmación de Lutero. La oración es, o debe ser, lo que sustenta nuestro trabajo apostólico, si queremos que sea eficaz y fructífero. Al mucho “hacer” y poco “rezar”, lo llamaba el Papa Pio XII: “la herejía de la acción”.
Existe un refrán que dice que:”no por mucho madrugar, amanece más temprano”. Pues bien: no por mucho gastarse trabajando todas las horas del día, obtendremos más fruto. Si no hay respaldo de oración, habrá mucho trabajo baldío. No olvidemos que como dice el Apóstol: “Yo planté, Apolo regó; mas fue Dios quien dio el crecimiento”. El fruto es de la acción de Dios, no la nuestra. Somos instrumentos. Pero hay que contar con Aquel que maneja el instrumento. Un hacha, por my afilada que esté, no cortará el árbol sin la mano del leñador.
¿Cuándo da fruto el sarmiento? Cuando permanece unido a la vid. Del mismo modo cada uno de nosotros sólo puede dar fruto si permanece en el Señor, y el Señor en cada uno. Esta es una clave que no podemos olvidar jamás, especialmente cuando nos viene la tentación de abandonar la oración o descuidar nuestra vida sacramental.
Jesús pone el ejemplo de la vid y los sarmientos, que tienen que estar unidos, para poder dar fruto. Él es la Vid, y yo un sarmiento. Así pues, si no me encuentro con Él todos los días en la oración, si no me nutro de su gracia en los sacramentos, si no me dejo “tocar” por su palabra en lo más profundo y encender por el fuego divino de su Amor, ¿qué frutos produciré?
A veces nos entran las prisas, y queremos hacerlo todo en días u horas. Pero no caemos en la cuenta de que Jesús predicó solo durante tres años escasos, y tuvo treinta años de preparación, silencio y oración. La evangelización, las tareas pastorales no exigen prisas, sino profundidad y lluvia del cielo. Demos su tiempo al silencio, a la reflexión, al encuentro con quien va a hacer posible el fruto. Y después trabajemos con paz.
