La revista “Vida Nueva” suele traer en sus primeras páginas algunos articulitos, anotaciones o breves reflexiones que resultan interesantes y valiosas. En el último número que he ojeado, encuentro referencias a la próxima creación de nuevos Cardenales; la nueva liturgia del Camino Neocatecumenal; los ajustes en la Iglesia, etc…
Quiero aportar mi opinión sobre algunos de esos temas, con cuyo enfoque coincido en su mayor parte.
Nuevos Cardenales: El Papa anunció hace poco, y para esta fecha ya estarán nombrados, la creación de 22 nuevos purpurados (cardenales). Ya sabemos que la tarea principal, o, al menos, la más trascendente de dichos cardenales, es la de elegir al nuevo Papa. Y eso sí es importante. Sólo los que no han cumplido los 80 años son los que entran en el Cónclave para la elección. Debe haber el número suficiente, marcado por las normas pontificias, de electores. Y aquí viene la más que posible pega. Por una parte, muchos de los nombrados cardenales, lo reciben por agradecimiento a sus servicios prestados, y no por otras razones más práctica o coherentes. Y además, la composición del “colegio cardenalicio” no es representativa de la Iglesia Universal; muchos europeos, y sobre todo, italianos; muchos de la curia vaticana, y menos de países más lejanos, países pobres o marginados, países de misión, etc.. Europa, sobre todo Italia otra vez, siguen siendo el ombligo del mundo clerical vaticano.
Estos distintos aspectos y otros muchos hacen que la elección del Papa no tenga un carácter suficientemente universal. Aunque la mejor solución es que desapareciesen esas ”dignidades” obsoletas, y en muchos casos incomprensibles, si no escandalosas. ¿Cuándo entrará en la mente de los que depende, la sencillez del evangelio, que le sentaría muy bien a la iglesia? ¿Quién será capaz de “poner el cascabel al gato?
La nueva liturgia del camino neocatecumenal: Y vuelvo a preguntarme: ¿Cuándo estos llamados “catecúmenos”, ya bautizados, dejarán de quererse distinguir del resto de los cristianos? Poco a poco, van consiguiendo todo lo que quieren, con la aprobación de una buena parte de los obispos (empezando por el Papa), pero con una cierta extrañeza del resto del pueblo cristiano. No sé todavía en qué consiste su nueva anunciada liturgia, ni qué novedades introducen. Pero pienso que dentro de las normas litúrgicas actuales para toda la iglesia romana, hay suficiente margen para variar algunas cosas, adaptarlas a las situaciones concretas, o a grupos especiales; y todo ello sin tener que institucionalizar normas distintas para unos u otros. Se pregunta el director de la revista citada: “esta nuestra Iglesia del Señor tendrá cristianos del montón y cristianos de élite”. Y no por su mayor compromiso evangélico, sino por puro privilegio. Y añade el autor citado:”Son los puros y elegidos, que miran por encima del hombro a los esforzados militantes del sentido común”. No lo digo yo; lo dice el director de una revista de corte religioso y eclesial.
Ajustes en la Iglesia: Se refiere a la voz profética de la Iglesia ante la situación de crisis económico-social que vivimos, y sus consecuencias. Y destaca la labor de muchas instituciones religiosas que, desde la fe, hacen una labor verdaderamente meritoria. Pero a continuación, se pide algo más. “El excesivo boato, el gasto superfluo, las celebraciones fuera de tono, han de cuidarse para que no hieran la austeridad en la que viven muchos hermanos”.
Son importantes, y aplicables al caso, las palabras de César: “La mujer del César, no basta con que sea honrada, tiene también que parecerlo”. Creo que la iglesia ganaría en credibilidad y estima, si optase por la simplicidad, abandonando la ostentación.

A friend has a computer that turns itself off after a certain period of time of inactivity. And all you have to do is move the mouse a little, and the computer comes back on. Maybe the computer is not completely off, maybe this is called hibernate or standby or something. Is this a good thing to do or should I just let my computer run?
