Para una gran parte de la gente (bautizados o creyentes no practicantes), la liturgia en las celebraciones de la Iglesia les trae sin cuidado. Yo diría que, incluso, a muchos cristianos de misa dominical , tampoco les importa demasiado (lo que haga el cura está bien. Nosotros solo tenemos que asistir). Es claro, gracias a Dios, que hay una parte de fieles celebrantes que no les es indiferente un tipo de liturgia u otra. No se vive de la misma manera la Eucaristía, por ejemplo, con una liturgia aburrida, sin alma, sin participación, que con otra más participativa, festiva, actualizada…
La liturgia no es exclusiva de la Iglesia. Todo acto público tiene su liturgia, su protocolo, su manera de celebrarlo. Esas cosas no se suelen dejar, generalmente, a la improvisación, a la anarquía, todo eso es verdad. Pero hay liturgias más vivas, con cambios según las circunstancias, los lugares, las personas, los tiempos, más normales; y liturgias más encorsetadas y rígidas, donde no cabe ningún cambio.
La liturgia en la Iglesia padece bastante, al menos institucionalmente y en grandes celebraciones (vaticanas, catedralicias, iglesias más conservadoras) de ese encorsetado modo de actuar. Todo es muy bonito, muy estético, pero también más frío, más distante, menos cercano.
Lo fundamental es necesario que sea lo mismo, porque de lo contrario dejaría de ser una cosa para convertirse en otra. Pero hay mil aspectos que se pueden aggionar. Unas veces no se hace por rutina, otras por comodidad, otras por falta de entusiasmo o imaginación. Los Obispos suelen ser muy celosos del cumplimiento estricto de las normas litúrgica: “Nihil innovetur nisi quod traditum est”(“Guárdese lo que se ha hecho tradicionalmente; nada se innove”).
Sin embargo, hay que reconocer, que independientemente de la rigidez de las normas litúrgicas exigidas, hay una serie de posibilidades que se pueden llevar a cabo. Y no hacerlo es culpa de los que presiden o preparan la liturgia (sacerdotes y comunidades cristianas). Así no se puede avanzar en una mayor participación, en un mayor atractivo, en una mejor comprensión del sacramento. Creo que es preferible, a veces, pasarse un poquito, que permanecer estáticos y sin vida.
He constatado que la Eucaristía, preparada teniendo en cuenta a los niños (misas familiares, de catequesis, etc…) no sólo los niños pueden entenderla y participar mejor, sino que los adultos participan también de esa mejor comprensión y participación.
Todo ello supone dedicar tiempo a la preparación, hacer un esfuerzo de imaginación y buen sentido, deseo de que la Eucaristía sea vivida y comprendida por la mayor parte de la comunidad celebrante, etc..
A veces se culpa a la jerarquía eclesiástica de la rigidez de la liturgia (tendrán su parte), pero la inmensa mayoría de las veces, son los mismos celebrantes (presbíteros y comunidad) lo que no hace nada por una mejor celebración.
