Domingo XXII del Tiempo Ordinario
(Una conducta farisea)
Nos encontramos en el evangelio de este domingo un ataque verbal del grupo judío de los fariseos a Jesús. El motivo de este ataque es que los discípulos de Jesús no guardaban algunas costumbres que ellos tenían.
Jesús estaba en Galilea, y seguramente los fariseos de Jerusalén habían enviado una delegación para que vigilasen lo que Jesús decía y hacía, porque las autoridades religiosas estaban preocupadas con lo que se decía de Jesús, y querían comprobarlo por sí mismos.
El grupo de los fariseos tenía fama de personas piadosas, pero daban demasiada importancia a cosas externas, costumbres, tradiciones, valorando menos lo verdaderamente importante, lo esencial. El cumplimiento de la letra pasaba por encima del espíritu de la misma. ¿Por qué actúan así tus discípulos?, le preguntan. Lo que hacían los discípulos era dar importancia a lo esencial, y no a lo anecdótico, por mucha tradición que tuviera. Así lo habían aprendido del Maestro.
Jesús aprovecha para desenmascarar a los fariseos, y darles una lección de lo que es verdaderamente importante y lo que no lo es. Entre otras cosas, a ellos les gustaba rezar en la calle para que os vieran; escogían los mejores puestos en los banquetes; cuando ayunaban, iban con la cara triste para que lo notara la gente; tenían una serie de alimentos prohibidos porque los consideraban impuros; y otras muchas cosas como las que cita hoy el evangelio: purificar (no solo lavar) los cacharros y vajilla que iban a usar para comer., vasos, etc…
Ante esa postura, equivocada e hipócrita, Jesús les cita al profeta Isaías, que dice al pueblo en nombre de Dios: “Este pueblo me honra con los labios, pero su corazón está lejos de mí”·
Ante esta manera de actuar, Jesús les va a dar una lección. Lo importante no es purificar las cosas, que no lo necesitan; lo que hay que purificar es el corazón, porque de ahí es de donde nace el mal; de ahí salen los malos propósitos, las fornicaciones, las envidias, la difamación, etc.
Lo que se come no mancha al hombre, no le hace impuro, pero lo que sale de su corazón y de su boca, sí que puede mancharlo.
En la segunda lectura hemos leído que decía San Pablo, que la religión pura e intachable a los ojos de Dios, es no seguir los intereses del mundo, sino ayudar a los que están necesitados. Y cita a los huérfanos y las viudas, porque en aquel tiempo eran las personas menos atendidas y más necesitadas.
Pienso que hoy, también, Jesús, denunciaría muchas actitudes farisaicas en la vida de muchos cristianos, que cumplen con muchas normas (algunas ya obsoletas y sin sentido), que tienen muchas devociones a los santos, muchas promesas, etc… pero les falla lo esencial: el amor al prójimo, el perdón, la solidaridad, el compromiso… Y pueden creerse muy buenos, porque hacen actos piadosos, pero se olvidan de las obras de misericordia.
