El escándalo de la desunión
Me refiero a la falta de unión entre las distintas iglesias cristianas, fundamentalmente, entre Católicos, Ortodoxos y Protestantes, que son las tres iglesias cristianas más numerosas e influyentes. El recordar este tema ahora, se debe a que acabamos de celebrar el ”octavario de oración por la unión de todos los cristianos”, que comenzó el día 18 y terminó el día 25. Es una buena ocasión para que nos sintamos solidarios con esta gran preocupación de la Iglesia Católica. La llamada de Jesús en la Última Cena, sigue siendo de plena actualidad: “Que todos sean uno”.
Más del 22% de los seres humanos están bautizados, y son, por tanto, al menos oficialmente, cristianos. Pero observamos diferencias muy importantes. Hasta el s. XI, el cristianismo, aunque con variedad de ritos y costumbres, conservó la unidad en las creencias de la fe, y reconocía la autoridad y servicio del Papa. Las incomprensiones mutuas que fueron surgiendo, a partir del s. IV, entre Oriente y Occidente, se fueron haciendo mayores, hasta que se consumó la separación.
No deben confundirse los ortodoxos con los católicos de de rito oriental, que comparten todas las creencias de los Católicos de rito latino.
Por otra parte, las iglesias protestante, se iniciaron con Lutero en el s. XVI, y más tarde la Iglesia anglicana que entró en Inglaterra en tiempos de Enrique VIII, por motivos que nada tenían que ver con diferencias doctrinales.
La Iglesia Católica, sobre todo a partir del Concilio Vaticano II trata de promover con gran interés lo que se llama el Ecumenismo, que es el movimiento hacia la unidad de todos los cristianos. El Ecumenismo pretende superar los siglos de incomprensiones, desconocimiento mutuo y excomuniones recíprocas, entre las diversas confesiones cristianas.
Es un tema que a todos debiera preocuparnos, porque damos un mal ejemplo, y se produce un escándalo. Hace años había un cartel con motivo de este octavario, que representaba a un Cristo, resquebrajado y roto. Y se leía debajo:”Cuando el Cristo roto, recobre la unidad, el mundo sabrá quién es su verdadero Salvador”.
Recemos para que se realice cuanto antes esta unión de todos los cristianos.

Supongo que es porque en vez de buscar a Dios en ella,nos buscamos a nosotros mismos. Nada más lejos de lo que debe ser la religión que nos une a Dios y a los hermanos.
