Resulta difícil, por decir imposible, creer que las cosas se desarrollasen como se cuentan en el Evangelio. Ya sabemos que el evangelio como toda la Biblia, debe ser interpretada, y que las cosas se cuentan, según la finalidad que se pretende, y el estilo literario que se emplea.
No es fácil imaginarse como acontecimiento real, que Jesús entrase tan solemnemente en Jerusalén, aclamado mayoritariamente por la gente, con toda la parafernalia de ramos, palmas, capas por el suelo, a modo de alfombras, y la gente gritando y aclamándolo festivamente.
¿Por qué no es probable que sucediese así? En primer lugar, Jerusalén estaba de preparativos de gran fiesta (la Pascua), repleta de gente extranjera por el mismo motivo, y era lo único que les preocupaba o les movía. En segundo lugar, la gente, que sabía que las autoridades no veía con buenos ojos a Jesús, no creo que se atreviesen a manifestarse con tanto descaro a favor de Jesús. En tercer lugar, los romanos no hubieran permitido una exaltación de aquel llamado Mesías, que era aclamado por encima de sus grandes autoridades. En cuarto lugar, Jesús evitaría entrar en Jerusalén de una manera llamativa y triunfante, cuando en realidad, lo haría más bien, con cierto ocultamiento, o al menos, no exultación. Sabía que andaban buscando una excusa para prenderlo y condenarlo. Presentarse victorioso hubiera sido una provocación, muy lejos de los intereses de Jesús.
Puede que algún grupito reducido, más cercano a Jesús, le aclamase en algún momento, al verlo. Pero sin grandes algazaras ni triunfalismos peligrosos.
Entonces ¿por qué lo describen de esa manera los evangelistas? Hacen referencia a un texto del Profeta Zacarías (9,9) que nos habla de “un rey que vendrá á ti, justo y salvador, humilde, y cabalgando sobre un pollino hijo de asno, sobre el cual ningún hombre ha subido. La intención, puede ser darle a Jesús una montura especial que nadie ha montado antes, y que nunca nadie más podría montar por ello. Puede referirse a la instrucción de la Mishná (recopilación de leyes judías) que declara “nadie puede montar un animal montado por un rey”. Es decir, Jesús es presentado como rey, al montar un pollino que nunca ha sido montado.
Sea cual sea la explicación, lo importante es que con esta celebración del Domingo de Ramos, que la Iglesia ha guardado como tradición, da comienzo la Semana Santa y con ella, los grandes acontecimientos de la pasión, muerte y resurrección de Jesús. Y nosotros debemos acompañarlo, en la liturgia y en la vida real, en todas las pasiones que el hombre marginado sufre.
