(Yo soy la vid, vosotros los sarmientos)
Jesús sigue hablando a la gente que le sigue, por medio de comparaciones, que ellos entienden muy bien. El domingo pasado hablaba del “buen pastor y las ovejas”; hoy nos habla de “la vid y los sarmientos”. Términos que aquella gente campesina entendía muy bien.
La vid es la que proporciona la vida, la sabia, a los sarmientos. Ningún sarmiento separado de la vid puede dar fruto. Se seca, y solo sirve para arrojarlo al fuego y que arda.
Para que una viña pueda dar buenas uvas, buen fruto, es necesario que todos los sarmientos estén bien arraigados en la vid. Es decir para que nosotros podamos dar Buenos frutos en nuestra vida, debemos estar muy unidos a Cristo. Dice Jesús: todo sarmiento que no esté unido a la vid, sera arrojado, porque no produce uvas.
Por otra parte, los sarmientos, tienen que ser podados, de vez en cuando, para que den major fruto. Así nosotros debemos dejarnos moldear por Jesús, para poder ir mejorando nuestra manera de comportarnos con referencia a Dios y al prójimo.
Nuestro seguimiento de Jesús, require estar muy unido a él. Y solo estaremos unidos a él, si verdaderamente tratamos de poner en práctica todo lo que encontramos en el Evangelio. Allí vemos cuál fue su estilo de vida, cuáles fueron sus valores, y, sobre todo, cómo se comportaba con los necesitados: pobres, enfermos, pecadores, gente marginada y de mala fama. Se acercaba a ellos para ayudarlos, para darles el cariño que los demás les negaban. No le importaba que le criticaran.
Todo eso exige olvidarse un poco de sí mismo, para pensar en los demás, como hacía Jesús; por lo cual era criticado y perseguido por otros, que solo pensaban en ellos mismos y sus intereses.
Ojalá que el ejemplo de Jesús nos anime a imitrle, y a tratar de parecernos a él.
