“En el mucho hablar, no faltará pecado”
(Proverbios.10, 19)
El libro de los Proverbios, no cabe duda que expresa la sabiduría de un pueblo. Este libro, que data, aproximadamente, del año 722 antes de Cristo, y algunas de cuyas partes se le atribuye al rey Salomón, que tenía fama de sabio, se le incluye entre los libros sapienciales del Antiguo Testamento.
La frase, que encabeza este post, es, sin duda, fruto de la experiencia. Todos podemos tener esa experiencia; por eso cuando alguna persona habla mucho, a veces dice cosas incoherente, necias… y solemos decir:¡cuántas tonterías dice esta persona! ¡Habla sin ton ni son!
Hace pocos días, oí una frase, atribuida al gran estadista Azaña, que decía: “Si en España, cada uno solo hablara de lo que sabe, seguramente se produciría un gran silencio, que favorecería la reflexión”.
1Y qué razón llevaba! Mucha gente habla de lo que no sabe, de lo que no entiende. Algunos sientan cátedra, pero una cátedra de ignorante, que se detecta con facilidad.
Y no solo gente atrevida y charlatana. Muchos de nuestros políticos, que por serlo creen estar sobre el bien y el mal, opinan, aseveran, niegan o pontifican, con un atrevimiento que raya en la desfachatez. Se pierden una ocasión propicia para estar calladitos, sin descubrir su ignorancia.
También hay algunos periodistas que hablan con desparpajo sobre lo que no dominan. Por ejemplo, sobre la Iglesia. Hablan de oídas, sin conocimiento suficiente de causa. Y disparatan. Son los menos.
Un poco más de silencio, que favorezca la reflexión, no nos vendría mal. No hay necesidad de aturdirse con el mucho hablar. De vez en cuando, no vendría mal una cura de silencio y reflexión.
Como die el libro de los Proverbios: “en el mucho hablar, no faltará pecado”. Aunque solamente sea el pecado de insulsez.
