Domingo de la Santísima Trinidad
(Padre, Hijo, y Espíritu Santo)
En este domingo celebramos un gran misterio, y como misterio que es, no podemos tratar de entenderlo. Sería inútil. Nos basta con aceptarlo en fe. Un solo Dios, pero tres personas distintas, o tres maneras de actuar como Padre, amoroso, como Hijo modelo y redentor, y como amor que nos inspira las buenas obras y que brota del amor del Padre y del Hijo. Pero dejemos de tratar de entenderlo. Si los misterios se pudieran entender, dejarían de ser misterios. Dios no es inteligible, porque nos separa de él una eternidad, un infinito. Algún día, esperamos poder entenderlo un poquito, suficiente para hacernos felices eternamente.
Jesús nos habla del Padre; el Padre habla del Hijo; y ambos nos dan el Espíritu Santo.
Lo importante de esta fiesta es que nos recuerda que Dios nos ama como Padre, se hace nuestro defensor y modelo en Jesús, y nos da su Espíritu, su fuerza, su ánimo, como defensor en los desafíos de la tentación, y como el fuego del doble amor: a Dios y a los hermanos, los hombres.
Nosotros veneramos a la Santísima Trinidad, con bastante frecuencia. Siempre que hacemos la señal de la cruz, la hacemos en el nombre del Padre, y del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo. Pero hay que procurar que no sea un garabato sobre la cara, sino algo con sentido, conscientes de lo que hacemos y decimos. El misterio de la Santísima Trinidad -Un sólo Dios en tres Personas distintas-, es el misterio central de la fe y de la vida cristiana, pues es el misterio de Dios en Sí mismo. Aunque es un dogma difícil de entender, fue el primero que entendieron los Apóstoles. Después de la Resurrección; comprendieron que Jesús era el Salvador enviado por el Padre. Y, cuando experimentaron la acción del Espíritu Santo dentro de sus corazones en Pentecostés, comprendieron que el único Dios era Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo. Lo vemos claramente en la Creación, en la Encarnación y en Pentecostés. En la Creación, Dios Padre está como principio de todo lo que existe. En la Encarnación, Dios se encarna, por amor a nosotros, en Jesús, para liberarnos del pecado y llevarnos a la vida eterna. En Pentecostés, el Padre y el Hijo se hacen presentes en la vida del hombre en la Persona del Espíritu santo, cuya misión es santificarnos, iluminándonos y ayudándonos con sus dones a alcanzar la vida eterna. Cada vez que hacemos la Señal de la Cruz sobre nuestro cuerpo, recordamos el misterio de la Santísima Trinidad.
Pero, repito, no se trata de intentar comprender el “misterio”, sino de aceptar a un Dios que es donación, entrega y amor a los hombres, de diversas formas y maneras.
