María, nuestra Madre
(Ceder la propia Madre, en favor del que es huérfano, es una de las mayores pruebas de generosidad. Jesús lo hizo).
“Jesús, dirigiéndose a su Madre, le dice: “Mujer, ahí tienes a tu hijo”. Luego dice al discípulo: “Ahí tienes a tu Madre”. (Jn.19,26).
Es un momento crucial de la vida de Jesús. Está colgando de la cruz, exhausto por la pérdida de sangre, en la flagelación y durante su subida al Calvario, con la voz tenue de un agonizante. Fija los ojos en María, la Madre que no se aparta del Hijo, condenado a muerte injustamente, y en Juan, el único discípulo que fue fiel y no le abandonó en aquellos momentos de desconcierto, y pronuncia aquellas inequívocas palabras: “Ahí tienes a tu Madre”.
Juan (nosotros) recibe el mejor regalo de parte de Jesús. Y, aunque todavía pronunciará alguna palabra más, ya puede morir, porque ha hecho el testamento. Ha dejando en herencia lo mejor y lo único que le quedaba: su Madre.
La Madre, también, quedaba sola; necesitaba unos hijos que la atendiesen, Pero nosotros necesitábamos una madre. La de Jesús, que sabía tanto de misericordia. Por eso decimos en la Salve:…”Reina y Madre de misericordia”.
Lo último de lo que uno se desprendería, sería de su madre. Jesús se había desprendido ya de todo; hasta las propias vestiduras estaban ya en manos de sus verdugos; había entregado todo, hasta la sangre; había renunciado a la venganza y al castigo, y había pedido el perdón para los que le clavaban en la cruz, “porque no sabían lo que hacían”.
Jesús quiere morir desprendido de todo. Ha vivido sin estar apegado a nada. Nace pobre, vive pobre y muere más pobre todavía. Él mismo dirá a uno que le pregunta dónde vive: “Las zorras tienen madrigueras y las aves del cielo nidos, pero el Hijo del Hombre no tiene dónde recostar la cabeza”.
Debiéramos estar eternamente agradecidos a ese Jesús que se desprende de lo que más quiere, en favor nuestro. Y la mejor manera de agradecérselo, supongo que es, teniendo un gran amor a esa Madre, que accepta el reto, y que sigue siendo nuestra abogada en las causas difíciles, y nuestro modelo en llevar a la práctica la voluntad de Dios. Esa Madre que es “vida y esperanza nuestra”.
No importa bajo qué título o advocación se la venere. María, la Madre, es una sola, aunque se la denomine de formas distintas. Es María de Nazaret, la Madre de Jesús, y la nuestra, por voluntad del mismo Jesús.
Por medio de María, se hace Dios cercano a nosotros; por ella, nos llega hecho hombre, sin dejar de ser Dios. Es el Dios con nosotros, el Emmanuel.
