¿Confirmaciones “exprés”?
Hace pocos días se presentó en la parroquia un joven (28 años) que necesitaba recibir el sacramento de la ”Confirmación”, porque quería ser padrino de un sobrino suyo, y se le exigía estar confirmado. En su ingenuidad, pensaba que se trataba de recibir un pequeño cursillo de dos o tres días, y se le confirmaba. Lo que podríamos llamar una Confirmación “exprés”, y a la carta. Para él era un trámite que había que pasar, sin ninguna relación a lo que supone confirmarse, de responsabilidad y de compromiso cristiano.
No cabe duda de que se presenta un problema de no fácil solución. Por una parte, la gente puede empezar a querer confirmarse, solo para poder ser padrino o madrina. Lo cual no debe ser el objetivo, ni la razón principal para este sacramento, ya que no se celebra el sacramento “para”, sino que tiene entidad y sentido en sí mismo. El sacramento de la Confirmación es el sacramento de la adultez cristiana, que ratifica y refuerza al sacramento del Bautismo, que generalmente se recibe en la edad de la no-razón (de infantes)
El Derecho Canónico (la legislación de la Iglesia) lo ha exigido siempre, pero nunca se había urgido. Por otra parte la pastoral de la Confirmación tampoco se cuidó en otro tiempo, por lo cual muchos adultos no están confirmados.
Conozco una parroquia de la ciudad, que ha decidido impartir, al año, dos cursillos de preparación a la celebración del sacramento, que se darían de Noviembre a Junio, para adultos. Sería una forma de ir resolviendo el problema.
A mi juicio, existe otro problema distinto, referente no a la Confirmación en sí, sino en el momento de recibirla. Muchos Obispos (no sé cuantos) están confirmando a edad muy temprana, con poco tiempo de formación de los jóvenes confirmandos. La solución no es esa. Precisamente ese era un sacramento que no se había devaluado todavía (como ocurre con las Primeras Comuniones, por ejemplo); se había logrado una preparación suficientemente larga antes de llegar a la confirmación, ya con la mayoría de edad (en torno a los 18 o 20 años), lo cual daba una garantía de madurez cristiana y compromiso evangélico. Eso va desapareciendo para algunos obispos con todo lo que de positivo tenía. La edad también cuenta a la hora de tomar determinaciones serias y compromisos fuertes. Pero se ve que algunos responsables (léase obispos) no lo entienden.
