Si los muertos hablaran…
Aunque los difuntos ya no pueden hablar, nos encargamos nosotros de decir cosas por ellos. Eso es lo que ha hecho el Vaticano, al menos con el “visto bueno” del Papa. Se ha legislado sobre los muertos, sin contar con ellos. ¿Entierros en un cementerio o en un local sagrado, o cremación? En este último caso:¿guardar las cenizas en el hogar o en un lugar sagrado (columbario parroquial), o esparcirlas en el mar o en el campo?
Esa es la polémica que acaba de comenzar, a raíz de las últimas manifestaciones de Roma. Ya hay quien dice que seguirá haciendo lo que le venga en gana; otros dicen que por qué la Iglesia se mete en esas cosas. Y otros, para que no falte ninguna opción, ven bien la nueva orientación. Hay una tercera vía, tal vez la más acertada, que sería no imponer nada, sino aconsejar lo que se dice como mandato, como más conveniente o más respetuoso con los restos de los que vivieron con nosotros; pero sin imponerlo.
Después de tanto tiempo de la práctica de esparcir las cenizas, o guardarlas, sin que haya habido una nota de la Iglesia sobre esa costumbre, sorprende que ahora se ordene y mande algo en contra de dicha costumbre. Repito que aconsejar otra manera de actuar, sería preferible a exigirlo por mandato o prohibición.
Por otra parte, las razones que se esgrimen sobre la resurrección, nada tienen que ver con una buena teología de la muerte y la resurrección. ¡Cuántas veces la Iglesia llega tarde o a destiempo!
