(Vosotros sois la sal y la luz, para los hombres)
Jesús siempre hablaba, a la gentes sencilla que le escuchaba, con palabras sencillas e imágenes que todos entendían con facilidad. En este caso les habla de algo tan corriente como es la sal y la luz. ¿Quién no sabe lo que es la sal y cuáles son sus efectos? Que se lo pregunten a los que, por enfermedad, tienen que comer sin sal (al menos hasta que se acostumbren, si es que lo logran). ¿Quién no sabe el valor de la luz, que deshace las tinieblas? ¿Quién no sabe la diferencia entre la luz del día y la oscuridad de la noche? Y todos sabemos la propiedad de la sal que sazona los alimentos y los hace más apetecibles. Pero si la sal perdiese esa virtud, si perdiese a capacidad de hacer más sabrosos los alimentos, ¿para qué serviría? Para nada, para tirarla a la basura.
Dice Jesús: vosotros sois como la sal; tenéis que mejorar la sociedad, tenéis que hacer que las personas vivan más felices. Pero si estar junto a vosotros hace más infelices a los demás, estáis estropeando la convivencia y ser como la sal que ha perdido su sabor. ¿Para qué servimos? Seríamos como una manzana podrida que contagia su podredumbre a las demás.
Dice, también, Jesús: “vosotros sois como la luz”. Si negáis la luz a los demás, estaréis contribuyendo a que aumente la ceguera y las tinieblas en el mundo, a que muchos se pierdan en la oscuridad.
¡Gran responsabilidad la de todo seguidor de Jesús no contribuya a aumentar la claridad en un mundo donde existen tantas personas que necesitan que se les abran los ojos para descubrir la justicia, la bondad, la solidaridad, la misericordia, etc.
En un mundo donde se da tanta violencia, tanto odio, la verdadera solución son esas bienaventuranzas de que nos habla Jesús, en el Evangelio. Empecemos por ser “limpios de corazón”, porque veremos a Dios, en cada una de las personas, y el mundo se transformará.
