Domingo I de Cuaresma
(No tentarás al Señor, tu Dios)
Hablar de las tentaciones, es como hablar de algo malo. No obstante, la tentación no es ni buena ni mala. Todo depende de que uno consienta en ella o la rechace. Hemos escuchado, en el evangelio de este primer domingo de Cuaresma, cómo Jesús sufrió tentaciones. Y aunque nos lo representa en el desierto y siendo tentado por el demonio, debemos, no como un hecho aislado y puntual, sino como algo normal a lo largo de su vida. Jesús era Dios, pero no dejaba, por eso, de ser hombre. San Pablo dice que “se hizo semejante a los hombres en todo menos en el pecado”. Por tanto, si las personas podemos sufrir tentaciones, y de hecho las tenemos, Jesús, a lo largo de su vida, también las tuvo: La tentación de aprovecharse de sus poderes, de su influencia, para sí mismo; la tentación de evitar la cruz, la de usar sus milagros para ganar prestigio o poder o fama. Pero nunca se dejó arrastrar por ninguna de esas, u otras, tentaciones.
Como hemos visto en la lectura del evangelio, Jesús rechaza cada una de las tentaciones, con prontitud y determinación. Dios Padre es lo primero, y todo lo que vaya en contra de su voluntad, debe ser rechazado de inmediato.
Es admirable la oración en el Huerto de los Olivos. Ante lo que se le venía encima, dice al Padre: “Que pase de mí este cáliz, este sufrimiento”. Pero enseguida reacciona, y añade:”Pero no se haga mi voluntad, sino la tuya”. Y saca fuerzas para vencer el miedo al dolor.
Nuestra vida está llena de tentaciones, es decir: de invitaciones a actuar según nuestro capricho, sin tener en cuenta lo que Dios quiere; inclinaciones a ser egoístas, o soberbios, o violentos, o perezosos, etc.
La tentación, he dicho antes, que no es pecado. Pero, si consentimos en ella, sí que no separa de Dios, que debe ser el motor y el único objetivo de nuestras decisiones.
El miércoles pasado comenzamos este tiempo, llamado Cuaresma, por los cuarenta días que nos acercan a la mayor fiesta de los cristianos, que es la Resurrección de Jesús. Es un tiempo de gracia, un camino de mayor fidelidad a Dios, un tiempo de conversión, tratando de ejercitar, más y mejor, la Oración y la Caridad, fundamentalmente.
Que el Señor nos conceda vivir una Cuaresma, llena de deseos de santidad, para que podamos vivir, un final, lleno de resurrección.
