La Eucaristía, ¿antes de la cena pascual?
Lo que me pregunto con ese título un tanto enigmático, es sencillamente: ¿Cuándo empezó la Eucaristía de Jesús? ¿Fue sólo en la celebración de la última Cena? ¿Tuvo sus comienzos o preparativos antes? Es posible que a algunos (tal vez bastantes si no muchos) les extrañen estas preguntas, o al menos les llame la atención. Pero trataré de explicarme para que no haya malos entendido, cosa que de ninguna de las formas desearía.
Jesús, a lo largo de su vida (más bien corta, pero intensa), tuvo una relación muy cercana y muy familiar con el grupo más reducido de sus discípulos. Su ejemplo y sus enseñanzas les iban preparando para los grandes acontecimientos del final de su vida. No solo para su pasión, muerte y resurrección, sino también para otra serie de sorpresas que se iban a desarrollar en aquella “última” cena de despedida (invitación a una vida de constante servicio; la novedad del mandamiento del amor; el encargo de continuar haciendo algunos gestos “en recuerdo mío”; y sobre todo la Eucaristía, símbolo de la entrega y donación de toda su vida).
Pero para que la Eucaristía no se interpretase solo como el milagro de su presencia real en el pan y el vino, sino que encontrasen en ella el verdadero sentido de toda la vida de Jesús, les fue preparando a lo largo de esos posibles tres años (según los evangelios sinópticos) de vida en común, para desentrañar todo lo que encierra de donación y entrega, de amistad inquebrantable a prueba de traiciones y abandonos, de solidaridad sin grietas, de amor incondicional…
Por eso, aparecen, frecuentemente, las comidas en común, el partir y compartir el pan con asiduidad, que no eran sino modos ejemplarizantes de cada momento de su vida, hasta hacerse pan Él mismo. Podían entender muy bien el final, porque conocían el gesto como algo muy propio de Jesús (recordemos cómo los de Emaús le reconocieron “al partir el pan”). Esas comidas, ese pan compartido, no eran simples comidas, sino que llevaban consigo una fuerte carga de simbolismo. Simbolizaban ya el pan de la Eucaristía, alimento para el camino. Pero más aún prefiguración de lo que la Eucaristía significaría. En ella está encerrada toda la vida de Jesús; una vida que se deja comer, porque es donación total, hasta la entrega de su cuerpo y de su sangre; la sangre de la Nueva Alianza, “que será derramada por vosotros y por todos los hombres”
Por tanto, la Eucaristía comienza a prepararse, y de alguna manera a hacerse realidad, en todas las actuaciones de Jesús; porque es su modo de actuar lo que le llevará a la Cruz. “Nadie tiene mayor amor que aquel que da la vida por sus amigos”. Y más todavía, si esa vida se entrega por los “enemigos”, como es el caso de Jesús. La Eucaristía, como la Cruz, no es un acto puntual de un momento de generosidad. No. Tanto una como la otra se van preparando a lo largo de la vida de Jesús, porque es toda la vida de Jesús la que se encierra en ellas.

Trae el pasado consigo, pero además condensa el significado de los hechos que van a ocurrir en la Cruz.
