¿En qué consiste el ayuno cuaresmal?
Aunque tradicionalmente la Iglesia lo ha entendido como privarse de alimentos, comiendo menos, haciendo una sola comida, etc… Sin embargo, hoy día el ayuno ha cambiado de sentido, sin despreciar lo anterior. Hoy apunta a otro tipo de ascesis, como refrenar la lengua, compartir con el necesitado, dominar el carácter fuerte o desabrido…En el profeta Isaías, encontramos unas palabras que Dios nos dirige, y que pueden iluminar nuestro tema del ayuno cuaresmal: “El ayuno que yo quiero es éste: abrir las prisiones injustas, hacer saltar los cerrojos de los cepos, dejar libres a los oprimidos, romper todos los cepos, partir tu pan con el hambriento, hospedar a los pobres sin techo, vestir al desnudo”. Y en el Evangelio, encontramos estas palabras de Jesús que refuerzan lo anterior (Lc, 6,38): “sed compasivos cono vuestro Padre es compasivo; no juzguéis y no seréis juzgados; no condenéis y no seréis condenados, perdonad y seréis perdonados.”
De una manera más concreta y práctica, traigo estas sugerencias, que nos pueden orientar sobre la manera en que puedo poner en práctica el ayuno que quiere el Señor:
- Que no haga gastos superfluos
- Que comparta con los que tienen más necesidad que yo
- Que ofrezca mi tiempo en alguna acción buena: visitar enfermos…
- Que prefiera servir, a ser servido
- Que sea justo y luche contra las injusticias
- Que me comprometa en luchar contra la marginación
- Que vea en cada persona, un hermano
- Que vea menos televisión y dedique parte de ese tiempo a la Oración
- Que ayune de tantas palabras superficiales y discusiones inútiles
- Que ponga mis cualidades al servicio de los demás
- Que no me deje esclavizar por nada y sólo Dios sea mi Señor
- Que procure poner paz a mi alrededor: familia, vecinos, amigos…
- Que no piense mal de las personas, ni caiga fácilmente en la crítica
- Que tenga un corazón limpio de odio, de desprecio o de indiferencia
- Que… que… que…(cada uno puede añadir otras muchas cosas)
La Cuaresma es un camino que tengo que ir sembrando de flores, quitando las espinas que me pueden herir a mí o a los demás. Y si no puedo convertir en un vergel el desierto de mi vida, que al menos pueda plantar una flor.
Que no tenga que reconocer al final de los cuarenta días, que he perdido el tiempo, este tiempo de gracia del Señor.
