Todo pasa
Ciertamente, todo pasa: pasa el tiempo, pasa la vida, pasan los malos ratos y los buenos, pasará la crisis, pasaremos todos… y han pasado, también, las vacaciones. Hay que volver a la vida cotidiana, a lo de siempre, al lugar que se abandonó por unos días…
Como dijo el poeta:
Todo pasa y todo queda, / pero lo nuestro es pasar,
pasar haciendo caminos, / caminos sobre la mar.
Pero la verdad más real es que, a aunque todo pasa, todo permanece de alguna forma. Tal vez lo único que poseemos es el pasado. Eso que va dejando huellas en el recuerdo, eso que se convierte en experiencia acumulada, eso que sigue estando ahí aunque ya es pasado. El futuro no ha llegado, precisamente porque es siempre futuro; el presente deja de serlo en el mismo instante; no se puede detener, no se puede fijar como una foto, se escapa cuando quieres hacerlo eterno. Los caminos recorridos en los distintos momentos de la vida, son los que van dejando huella, señalando las muescas del paso del tiempo: las arrugas del rostro, la artrosis de los miembros, las fuerzas que flaquean, el ánimo emprendedor de la juventud, que huye, a veces al galope como un corcel, a veces al trote de un jamelgo, o simplemente al paso lento de un anciano. Pero se va apagando. Permanece el deseo, pero la realidad se impone. Sólo los que han llegado a cierta edad lo saben. Y por eso, también, dirá el poeta:
Caminante, son tus huellas / el camino y nada más;
caminante, no hay camino, / se hace camino al andar.
Al andar se hace camino / y al volver la vista atrás
se ve la senda que nunca / se ha de volver a pisar.
La única manera de que vuelva el pasado es el recuerdo, que se vuelve cada vez más esquivo, menos fresco, más mezquino. Vuelve, sí; pero muchas andaduras se quedan en la espesura del cerebro, ocultas entre las células muertas, sin repuesto. Por eso hay parte de pasado que nunca más volverá.
Otro gran poeta dirá:
Volverán las oscuras golondrinas / en tu balcón sus nidos a colgar,
y, otra vez, con el ala a sus cristales / jugando llamarán;
pero aquellas que el vuelo refrenaban / tu hermosura y mi dicha al contemplar,
aquellas que aprendieron nuestros nombres…/ ésas… ¡no volverán!
Los creyentes, no obstante, tenemos la esperanza de que el futuro se convertirá en un eterno presente. Dios es el PRESENTE absoluto.
