(No tentarás al Señor, tu Dios)
Cuando tenemos que emprender algo importante, que lleva consigo una gran responsabilidad, nos damos tiempo para pensarlo bien, antes de comenzarlo. Incluso, muchas veces necesitaríamos un tiempo tranquilo de reflexión (que generalmente no tenemos), para tratar de no equivocarnos. Se trata de clarificar los pros y los contras, o de ver el modo más adecuado de llevarlo a cabo. Incluso, cuando tenemos que hacer cosas más corrientes, necesitamos a veces un tiempo de preparación: para dar una clase, para pronunciar una conferencia, etc.
Jesús va a comenzar la obra que el Padre le ha encomendado. Es algo muy importante, y de una gran responsabilidad; por lo cual merece la pena prepararse bien. Pensar cómo empezar, con quién contar, dónde empezar, qué decir, cómo decirlo, a quien dirigirse, etc. Y para eso Jesús se retira al desierto, a un lugar donde pueda pensar, donde pueda orar, donde nadie le moleste ni le distraiga. Es mucho lo que se juega. Y además lo hace en un ambiente de austeridad, y de oración; y el desierto se presta a ello.
Va a pasar un tiempo largo; el evangelio nos habla de 40 días. El número 40, en la Biblia, indica perfección, lo justo o necesario. Es decir, Jesús pasará reflexionando y orando en el desierto, el tiempo necesario para aclarar sus ideas sobre su misión.
Cuando ya lo tiene más o menos claro, y se dispone a dejar el desierto y empezar la tarea, he aquí que le surgen algunas tentaciones. Tentaciones que se pueden resumir en abandonar la tarea, porque es complicada, porque le puede acarrear dificultades (como de hecho ocurrió, hasta darle muerte por ser fiel a su misión). Las tres tentaciones que el evangelio nos describe, van en la misma dirección: falta de confianza en Dios, deseo de poseer riquezas, contra lo que es la voluntad de Dios, y crearse un prestigio, una fama, ante los demás, que alimente su orgullo, pero que le aparten de Dios. La tentación siempre se presenta en provecho propio, sin tener en cuenta los derechos de Dios, Padre, creador, santificador…
Pero no quiere decir que Jesús tuviese esas tentaciones sólo en ese momento. Jesús, como hombre, tendría tentaciones a lo largo de su vida. Sobre todo la tentación de dejarlo todo, porque veía que estaba siendo mal interpretado, y le preparaban la muerte.
Pero Jesús no cayó nunca en la tentación. Siempre la venció.
Las personas, a lo largo de la vida, también tenemos tentaciones, más o menos fuertes. Por muy creyentes que seamos, seguiremos siendo tentados. Pero hay que tener bien claro, que la tentación, no es pecado. Caer en ella, sí. Las palabras de Jesús, resistiendo la tentación, nos pueden servir a nosotros, también, para vencerlas: No sólo de pan vive el hombre, sino de toda Palabra de Dios; Sólo a Dios adorarás; no tentarás al Señor tu Dios.
