Me llama poderosamente la atención el alto número de “creyentes” (cristianos) que viven sin referencia alguna a Dios. Lo decía no hace mucho J.A. Pagola, que hablaba de “la cultura de la ausencia de Dios”. Porque lo verdaderamente alarmante no es que haya momentos o épocas en que una persona creyente se aleje más o menos de su referencia a Dios, temporalmente, sino que sea una postura permanente en su vida. Que Dios no cuente a la hora de organizar su vida; a la hora de establecer principios y criterios; a la hora de priorizar las opciones, etc. Eso sí es grave, y no deja de ser un sin-sentido en la vida del cristiano. Ya no solo es aquello, ya tan corriente, de “ser cristiano, pero no practicante”, que viene a significar que no celebra la eucaristía dominical y algunas otras normas o mandamientos de la Iglesia. Es más que eso. Es prescindir de Dios. Es decir, organizarse la vida a espaldas de Dios.
Se hace verdad aquello que se puso de moda en la filosofía de hace unos años:”Dios ha muerto”. Y si ha muerto, ya no tiene que tomar parte de la vida de los hombres. No es la clara negación de Dios, como podrían afirmar los ateos. Es un Dios muerto en la vida de los humanos, que hay que enterrar en el recuerdo. Dios queda desplazado al margen de la vida. Es el gran marginado que no cuenta, que no interesa, que molesta, y que hay que olvidar. El hombre creyente, deja su creencia aparcada; ya no le importa. Es autosuficiente para construir su presente y su futuro. Es autónomo y rompe toda dependencia de un ser superior. No se pregunta para qué sirve Dios en una cultura avanzada. Y en eso lleva razón, porque Dios “no sirve” para nada. Solo “sirven” los utensilios; aquello de que nos valemos (nos servimos) para nuestras necesidades, nuestros gustos y nuestros caprichos. Y Dios no entra en esos utensilios. Por eso está de sobra, como muerto; y hay que quitárselo de encima.
Pero una cultura sin Dios, es una cultura huérfana, porque le falta el gran creador, el insuperable escultor, el incomparable pintor, el mejor escritor. Una cultura carente de Dios, es una subcultura sin los grandes valores que le dan prestigio. Igualmente, un cristianismo sin Dios, o con un Dios relegado a los márgenes, deja de ser cristianismo, para convertirse en un humanismo, sin proyección hacia el futuro; como un pájaro sin capacidad de volar porque le han cortado las alas. Y, desgraciadamente, la ausencia de Dios en la vida de tantas personas, está resultando ser bastante frecuente.
Nadie habla a alguien que no existe. No se habla a los muertos. Tampoco se reza a Dios, si no se le siente vivo y presente en su vida.
