(Jesús cura a un ciego)
El Evangelio de hoy comienza diciendo que “Jesús iba de camino”, cuando vio a un ciego de nacimiento: se paró y le dedicó un tiempo para atenderlo y curarlo, y más tarde se hizo con el encontradizo con él, para darle la fe, después de haberle dado la vista. Analicemos brevemente estos datos tan sencillos que nos proporciona el evangelio.
Me llama la atención cómo Jesús, yendo de camino, seguramente charlando con sus apóstoles, o atendiendo a la gente que le seguía, se da cuenta de un ciego, que no grita ni pide nada, como otros ciegos en otras ocasiones. Jesús se fija y se acerca, y no le importa perder el tiempo con el ciego, aunque llevase prisa. Le da lo que el ciego quiere: la vista. Pero luego, sabe que los fariseos le molestan por haberse dejado curar por Jesús, y Jesús, otra vez, le busca, para darle algo mejor, que es la fe.
Así actuaba Jesús. Tal vez hubiera querido ser puntual, en aras a la buena educación, para llegar a algún lugar; pero encontró un “lugar” más importante, que es la persona, y se paró con ella, porque le necesitada.
Yo creo que esta es una buena lección (una más) de las de que nos da Jesús. No hay nada como las personas. Las cosas pueden ser importantes, pero la dignidad solo la tiene el ser humano, y cuando éste está más deteriorado, es más digno de atención, y de cariño.
A veces estamos cargados de ocupaciones; tenemos muchas cosas que hacer, pero alguien nos necesita, y no caemos en a cuenta, de que es el primero en las prioridades. Si Jesús no se hubiera parado, sacrificando la puntualidad, la prisa, o cualquier otro motivo, aquel pobre ciego lo hubiera sido toda su vida, y hasta, es posible, que nunca hubiera tenido ocasión de alcanzar la fe en Jesús.
Me gusta contar una breve leyenda. Una persona iba apresuradamente a la Iglesia, a Misa. Era domingo, y llegaba un poco tarde. En el camino vio a alguien que estaba en el suelo con signos de estar mal. Y siguió adelante porque llegaba un poco tarde. Al llegar a la puerta vio clavado en la puerte un papelito que decía, simplemente: ESTOY AHÍ FUERA.
