Hace un tiempo, cuando no existían las agencias de publicidad, Santa Teresa de Jesús dijo algo así como que Dios también andaba entre los pucheros. Entonces Dios se sentía cómodo en la vida cotidiana de los humanos; convivía con ellos y le sentaban a su mesa; se dormían con su nombre en los labios y presidía sus bailes…… Dios se paseaba con naturalidad por los pueblos y las ciudades sin que el pregonero tuviera que anunciarle. Cambiaron los tiempos y se le fue viendo como un vecino incómodo. Ya no gustaba que paseara tan alegremente por las plazas y alamedas. Empezó a ser un extraño para muchos . Empezó a esconderse en los grandes refugios consagrados o confinado en las cuatro paredes de cada casa. Incluso más de uno empezó a pensar que es un incordio para poder vivir en paz y le han retirado el carnet de identidad.
Estos últimos, beligerantes ellos, han querido que se entere todo el mundo de que este “señor” no existe y le han aupado al autobús. Y la han armado, porque a Dios le gusta ser peatón, caminar por los caminos polvorientos y transitados, pero no le gusta que le hagan pegatina de autobús. Le gusta pagar billete y sentarse con los pasajeros para echar una parrafada y no ir a la intemperie expuesto a las sonrisas irónicas de los transeúntes.
¡Pobre Dios! Le queremos convertir en una propaganda como pastas Gallo o dentífrico Colgate. Los unos y los otros le han convertido en dios-anuncio. Le hemos matado un poco más.
Dios es el que es, no el que nosotros queremos que sea. Dios es tan inmenso, tan “otro”, que no podemos enredarle en nuestras guerras particulares. Dios va con quien quiere y como quiere, que para eso es padre de todos.
Dios no necesita campañas publicitarias para que nos enteremos de que existe o no existe. Es tan Dios que respeta a todos y prefiere que no guerreemos.
Por supuesto que nunca pensó en acabar empapelado en un autobús, ni en ser moneda de división, ni ser el hazmerreír de los neutrales.
Los que creemos en El no necesitamos eslóganes publicitarios porque sabemos disfrutar cada día de su presencia con nosotros y los que no creen con olvidarle pues tan contentos.
En el fondo lo que llevan los autobuses es propaganda engañosa y , a veces, descarada con segundas intenciones, sino mirad el anuncio del Partido Cristiano inglés: “Definitivamente, hay un Dios. Unete al Partido cristiano y disfruta tu vida”. No dice únete a Dios, sino al Partido Cristiano. Ya no sabe uno quien le hará disfrutar de la vida, si Dios o el Partido Cristiano.
Dejemos a Dios fuera de nuestras guerras, que El es libre de disfrutar con quien quiera y nosotros libres, nos hizo así, de pasear con El o de arrinconarlo.
