La fotografía del banquero
No sé si será por deformación profesional, pero lo cierto es que me gusta hacer un ejercicio de imaginación consistente en ir poniendo “titulares” a hechos cotidianos, que me resultan buenas noticias, que pasan desapercibidas y permanecerán probablemente en el anonimato. Este ejercicio, de la mente y del corazón, me desintoxica de las fuertes dosis de intereses, violencias, revanchas, intolerancia, incomunicación e insolidaridad, que son con frecuencia las noticias que los emisores habituales nos transmiten. Mis “titulillos” están sacados de la vida de nuestro barrio. Ellos encierran un suave “susurro” de Dios en medio de nuestro paisaje habitual. Comparto en esta ocasión “La fotografía del banquero”.
Antonio lleva desde la adolescencia trabajando en el banco. Con los años -y su habilidad- lo hicieron director, con despacho y múltiples responsabilidades. Cuando su hija pequeña fue a la catequesis de primera comunión empezó en él un proceso de “conversión” muy fuerte. Dios le pedía algo y él no sabía bien qué. Entró, cargado de dudas y prejuicios, en un grupo de matrimonios de la parroquia y sintió que su vida tenía que cambiar: que todo no era trabajar y trabajar, ganar dinero, quitar tiempo a la familia… Poco a poco sucedió algo curioso y es que resultó que los clientes que iban a hablar con el director del banco terminaban tratando no asuntos de dinero, sino otros relativos al verdadero sentido de la vida. Entonces, en esos momentos más trascendentes, Antonio les señala la foto que tiene encima de la mesa del despacho, en la que se ve a su amigo el misionero rodeado de niños africanos. En la felicidad de los que viven para Dios, que lo dejan todo, reside una clave secreta que ninguna caja fuerte puede custodiar. Antonio ha descubierto ese secreto y lo cuenta, con lágrimas, lágrimas de alguien que ha nacido de nuevo y que se da cuenta de que su vida no es para él.
