Nicolás Castellanos
Hace 18 años llegó a Bolivia un obispo español, llamado Nicolás Castellanos, que renunció a su Diócesis de Palencia para ir a vivir con los pobres y para los pobres.
Desde entonces está trabajando en el Plan 3.000, un barrio instalado en un descampado y poblado por damnificados de las inundaciones del río Piraí. Y allí, en el Plan 3.000, Nicolás ha labrado su proyecto. Ha construido un centenar de escuelas. Comedores, piscinas… Un teatro, Una escuela universitaria. Sobre todo, ha hecho un poquito más feliz a mucha gente. En 1998 recibió el Premio Príncipe de Asturias de la Concordia.
El programa “En portada”, de TVE, emitió el domingo pasado un reportaje sobre la labor de Nicolás Castellanos en Bolivia. Con estas inquietudes llegaba a su misión:
“Hombre… Vienes aquí y se te rompe el alma cuando ves a esos niños muertos de hambre. Y dije: Hay que hacer comedores. No venía con ideas de asistencialismo. Aquí hagamos proyectos de promoción para que los bolivianos se recuperen y sean ellos mismos. Pero ves eso y dices. A este niño hay que darle de comer, a este otro hay que curarle. Sin olvidar que lo importante es la promoción y el cambio de estructuras. Lo importante se dice es no darle un pez, sino enseñarle a pescar… Pero si los ríos vienen contaminados, entonces no se puede pescar”.

El programa fue excelente, pero todavía mejor la figura de Castellanos con su sencillez, su entrega y su bondad.Realmente me conmovió y me hizo pensar en la pompa y boato de otros pastores que nos eljan de la IGLESIA (con mayúsculas).
