8 de Marzo: Día Internacional de la Mujer
(Contra la discriminación)
En 1979 fue aprobada en Asamblea General la Convención sobre la eliminación de todas las formas de discriminación contra la mujer y en 1981 se recibieron las 20 ratificaciones necesarias para entrar en vigor y quedar oficialmente establecido el Comité para la Eliminación de la Discriminación contra la Mujer.
- Me pregunto: ¿qué se hizo de tanta Declaración y de tanto Comité?
La discriminación de la mujer, también llamada “discriminación de género”, la encontramos en todos los ámbitos de la vida: laboral, académico, social, profesional, económico, religioso, y hasta en el mismo hogar.
- ¿Cómo algo tan aberrante se ha podido extender a todos los ambientes y estamentos?
Discriminar es “separar”, “distinguir” una cosa de la otra; desde el punto de vista social significa dar trato de inferioridad a una persona por motivos raciales, religiosos, políticos y de GENERO.
- ¿Dónde se funda esa separación o distinción…esa marginación de la mujer?
Al momento de la búsqueda de empleo a una mujer se le pregunta la edad y el estado civil, pesando muchas veces esto más que su currículo. ¡Vergüenza!
- Y esto es sólo un aspecto; no el único, pero sí muy significativo y humillante. ¡Qué injusticia!
Si de la sociedad civil pasamos a la Iglesia, nos encontramos también con la discriminación de la mujer, que no tiene ningún fundamento serio. Es fruto de las distintas épocas de la sociedad en que la mujer no contaba o contaba muy poco. No tiene ningún fundamento bíblico, ningún fundamento lógico, y está muy lejos de esa igualdad del hombre y la mujer que “predica” la Iglesia. Desde el primer libro de la Biblia (Génesis) se afirma la igualdad de hombre y mujer. (“esta sí que es carne de mi carne y hueso de mis huesos”). La Iglesia regida y dirigida sólo por hombres, se hace machista.
- ¿Dónde está esa igualdad?
San Pablo llega a escribir en la Carta a los Gálatas (3-28) lo siguiente: “No hay judío ni griego, no hay esclavos ni libres, no hay hombre ni mujer, pues todos vosotros sois uno en Cristo Jesús”.
- Ya va siendo hora de que la Iglesia rectifique su postura misógina.

Una sociedad madura minimizará el desfase en oportunidad y sueldos existente entre mujeres y hombres.
Una Iglesia verdadera encontrará un día que le faltan las mujeres, que posiblemente no tienen miedo a dar un vuelco de pobreza y humanidad en la Iglesia; mujeres, que detectarán que la moral sexual es más un instrumento de dominación de conciencias, que un ideal de relación entre esposos perfectos. La Iglesia es la que está perdiendo la oportunidad de incorporar en, por ejemplo, sínodos o un nuevo concilio, a más de la mitad de sus bautizados en Cristo.
La Iglesia está tapando la boca al Espíritu que habla, ama y decide por ellas.
