Él, cómo no, encarna el paradigma de esta filosofía de vida y, además, se enorgullece de serlo. “Tu forma de vivir te mantiene aislado” afirma de él otro de los personajes.
La historia muestra las consecuencias de vivir de esta manera, que tarde o temprano se desmorona, ya que el ser humano necesita tejer relaciones profundas con otros, ya sean de amistad, familiares o de pareja; y tampoco puede aislarse del dolor (del propio o del ajeno), ni engañarse a sí mismo. Como cabía esperar, el protagonista toma conciencia del error que ha cometido e intenta arreglarlo, arriesgándose quizás por primera vez en su vida y franqueando el muro de contención de sus sentimientos.
Hoy, días después de haber visto la película, sigo pensando en el cambio de actitud del protagonista y en su intento por vivir otra vida. Me pregunto si (salvando las distancias) su decisión de aventurarse a amar no tiene algo que ver con el despertar a la fe y con decidir apostar por Dios, con el reconocimiento de que uno no puede montarse la vida por su cuenta (puesto que necesita ser salvado), con el riesgo que supone andar a tientas en el camino de la fe o con Pedro tirándose al mar cuando reconoce al Señor en la orilla.
