María de Nazareth: la Inmaculada
Concebida sin pecado, vivió sin pecado, y por eso la llamamos la Inmaculada; sin mácula, sin mancha. Y todo ello por el gran privilegio de ser la Madre de Dios. ¿Qué hijo, si pudiera, no habría hecho a su madre la más perfecta y hermosa? Pues Dios lo pudo y lo quiso.
Acertadas son aquellas palabras, convertidas en argumento a favor de la Inmaculada Concepción de María, que el teólogo escocés del s.XIII, Duns Scoto, nos legó como muestra de su convicción teológica y su atinado sentido popular:
“Si quiso y no pudo, no es Dios, si pudo y no quiso, no es hijo. Digan, pues, que pudo y quiso”.
Aunque lo que celebramos el día 8 de diciembre es lo que el pueblo llama “la Purísima”, es decir, la Concepción Inmaculada de María, en verdad celebramos a la persona de la Virgen con todos sus privilegios. Y celebramos, ¡cómo no!, la grandeza, la magnificencia y la generosidad de Dios, con María, y concomitantemente con nosotros. Porque nos regaló a María como Madre nuestra. Y el regalo estaba enriquecido con todos los privilegios y virtudes con que la adornó.
Los himnos del Oficio Divino son de una belleza admirable. No puedo menos de copiar algunos versos:
“De toda mancha estás libre / ¿y quién pudo imaginar
que vino a faltar la gracia / en donde la gracia está?
Decir que pudo y no quiso / parece cosa cruel /
y, si es todopoderoso, / ¿con vos no lo habrá de ser?
Y para terminar y como broche final, traigo a colación las palabras de San Anselmo en uno de sus sermones:
“Dios es, pues, el padre de las cosas creadas; y María es la Madre de las cosas recreadas. Dios es el padre a quien se debe la constitución del mundo; y María es la madre a quien se debe la restauración. Pues Dios engendró a aquel por quien todo fue hecho; y María dio a luz a aquel por quien todo fue salvado. Dios engendró a aquel sin el cual nada existe; y María dio a luz a aquel sin el cual nada subsiste” (Sermón 52).
Hay una jaculatoria que siempre se ha repetido muchísimo, y con la cual se solía empezar la confesión, aunque ya va quedando cada vez más en el olvido: “Ave María purísima. Sin pecado concebida”. No es sino una explicitación de las palabras del ángel: ”Llena de gracia”. Llena de gracia desde el mismísimo primer momento de su concepción hasta el último suspiro de su vida.
| El dogma fue promulgado por el papa Pío IX, con estas palabras: “…declaramos, proclamamos y definimos que la doctrina que sostiene que la beatísima Virgen María fue preservada inmune de toda mancha de la culpa original en el primer instante de su concepción por singular gracia y privilegio de Dios omnipotente, en atención a los méritos de Cristo Jesús Salvador del género humano, está revelada por Dios y debe ser por tanto firme y constantemente creída por todos los fieles…” (Pío IX, Bula “Ineffabilis Deus”, 8 de diciembre de 1854). Para mí, sin mancha, es el modo de expresar que no conoció el egoísmo humano, vivía estando rendida a la humildad más absoluta, sin distinción entre los intereses de quienes conoció y los propios, extrañada de cualquier atributo especial en su persona…hasta que un ángel le hizo saber que era la más agraciada y privilegiada, precisamente, por ‘ser’ la más desasida.
¿Te imaginas, Susana, qué hermoso hubiera sido convivir con María? Me imagino que sería una sorpresa constante, en sus reacciones, sus pensamientos y sentimientos, su bondad…
Por otra parte, sería una acusación constante, también, a nuestros egoísmos y veleidades. ¡Qué bien pondría en práctica aquello que llamamos “compartir”!
Solo ella, es capaz de no envanecerse ante el mayor designio. Convivir con ella hubiera sido una lección constante de disolución del ‘yo’; ni más ni menos, ésta es la ‘traba original’ que acarreamos como especie.
