La salud, ¿lo más importante?
Una de las cosas que más se valoran, es la salud. Lo importante, se oye decir a muchas personas, es tener salud. Y en el día de la lotería, se oye con más frecuencia, cuando los dineros no han llegado, eso de que lo importante es la salud. Y se suele decir con tanto aplomo, que parece que no hay nada igual o superior. A mí no me gusta nada esa frase, que normalmente responde a un convencimiento. No creo que lo más importante sea estar sano, aunque no niego su importancia.
Pienso que hay algo muy superior a la salud en la vida de las personas. Me refiero a la felicidad. Ser feliz es lo que más podemos desear. He conocido personas muy enfermas, personas con enfermedades crónicas y de toda la vida, que, no obstante, respiran una felicidad extraña. Personas alegres, contentas, a pesar de su limitación. Y conozco personas rebosantes de salud y fortaleza, que viven con la amargura reflejada en su rostro. Todo eso me hace pensar que lo importante es ser feliz en la situación que nos encontremos, con mucha o poca salud.
Pero la felicidad no se compra ni se vende. No hay establecimientos donde se pueda adquirir un lote de felicidad. La felicidad se construye poco a poco, lo mismo que se va construyendo un edificio, piedra a piedra o ladrillo a ladrillo. Y no es feliz el que más tiene: sea dinero, lujo, salud, etc… No. Es más feliz el que menos necesita; el que se conforma con lo necesario, el que no ansía otras cosas.
Hay una cierta felicidad, que es la que produce el estado de bienestar. Y hay quien se conforma con eso. Pero para muchas otras personas, la felicidad supone sentirse amadas por Dios; saber reconocer sus dones; tener la conciencia tranquila; y poner en práctica aquello del Maestro: ”Amaos unos a otros”. Eso sí que causa una mayor felicidad. Y como decía, eso se va aprendiendo, a medida que uno se va embarcando en el seguimiento de Jesús.
Jesús no dijo nunca:”tened buena salud”; aunque hizo con mucha frecuencia que muchos enfermos se recuperasen y la recobrasen. Pero sí dijo:”sed santos”. Y no creo que haya ningún santo de los que han sido, son o serán, que no hayan sido, o sean, felices, por más que hayan sufrido, hayan sido perseguidos, e, incluso, martirizados. Por tanto, el ser felices es un mandato de Jesús; y como tal, hay que procurar vivirlo.
