La travesía del viajero del Alba
El inglés C.S. Lewis escribió una serie de libros infantiles con la intención de plasmar en ellos la fe cristiana a la que se convirtió siendo ya adulto. Para ello imagina un mundo paralelo repleto de animales parlantes y seres mitológicos en el que Cristo también se hace presente, aunque, para no “desentonar”, decide adoptar la forma de un león. A partir de ahí los paralelismos entre los relatos de nuestra fe cristiana y los acontecimientos que narran los libros son constantes y, casi siempre, evidentes. El título que nos ocupa es el tercero en ser llevado al cine y, si bien sigue siendo bastante inferior a la primera parte de saga, se trata de una película de aventuras entretenida, con una estructura narrativa poco novedosa pero eficaz y, sobre todo, con fondo.
Seguramente lo más llamativo es que en El Viajero del Alba los personajes recorren un camino de maduración personal a través del cual tendrán que hacer frente a sus mayores tentaciones, que intencionadamente consisten en la riqueza, el poder y la imagen. Para superarlas cada personaje cuenta con el apoyo de los demás miembros de la tripulación (la comunidad) y con la ayuda de Aslan (Cristo). Solo entonces la nave (que evoca el signo bíblico de la barca, símbolo de la Iglesia) puede vencer el mal, que aparece representado como una niebla, que se extiende velozmente y es capaz de filtrarse por cualquier resquicio que encuentre.
Pero lo mejor de la película son los diálogos finales en los que se concentran las frases con doble capa de lectura y nos encontramos con una hermosa imagen del cielo (el País de Aslan). A la orilla del mar, allí donde los primeros discípulos se encontraron con Cristo, comienza una nueva etapa en las vidas de los protagonistas. Algunos de ellos ya no volverán a Narnia, pues han crecido y madurado suficientemente. Lo que les toca, pues, es buscar a Aslan en sus vidas cotidianas, de vuelta al mundo al que pertenecen. La película termina, por tanto, con una invitación a buscar a Cristo para el espectador puesta en boca del propio Aslan: “En vuestro mundo tengo otro nombre. Después de conocerme un poco en aquí, me conoceréis mejor allí”. Algo así como una especie de “venid y lo veréis”.
