La “madurez” a examen
No podemos hablar de la “madurez” como si fuera algo propio y exclusivo de una de las etapas de la vida, generalmente de la adultez. La madurez se puede dar en cada una de las etapas del ser humano: niñez, juventud, adultez, vejez y ancianidad. Excluyo conscientemente otras etapas intermedias, infancia y la adolescencia, porque son etapas más intermedias con síntomas de la anterior y la siguiente.
Se puede hablar de madurez o falta de la misma en cada una de las etapas. A cada una de ellas le corresponde un grado distinto. A veces decimos:”este niño, o este joven, es muy maduro, o es poco maduro”. Generalmente lo identificamos con la “responsabilidad”, con el saber situarse ante las circunstancias, el saber estar… A veces, también ocurre que descubrimos en esas etapas una madurez impropia de su edad. Parece – y así es- que han alcanzado parte de la madurez que le correspondería en una etapa posterior. Y suele llamar poderosamente la atención.
Por lo general, el grado de madurez depende de la edad y de la evolución psicológica. Ambas tienen que ir creciendo a la par, para que no se den anomalías. Es decir, sería cuestión de tiempo y de integración personal. Puede influir, sin duda alguna, el entorno en que se desarrollan esas vidas, de la educación recibida, de las circunstancias vividas, etc.
Esto tiene alguna semejanza con las estaciones del año: primavera, verano, otoño, invierno. Cada una de ellas tiene su modo lógico de desarrollarse, aunque, a veces, en ciertos años, hay manifestaciones propias de otra estación, se retardan, o se adelantan a su tiempo.
Normalmente podemos decir que la madurez mayor y más estable se da en la adultez, y se acrecienta en la vejez. La experiencia es también un elemento no despreciable que ayuda a fortalecer la madurez.
Cuando una persona no es madura en cada una de sus etapas, provoca situaciones desagradables y poco responsables.
Con la fe ocurre algo parecido. También hay etapas de maduración en la fe. Sin embargo, la experiencia nos descubre que la mayoría de las personas adultas, que viven una fe tradicional, no la han personalizado, y cualquier vaivén o circunstancia adversa la hacen tambalear o perder. Es una fe heredada, fruto del ambiente, y por tanto no reflexionada, no madurada contra viento y marea. Es una fe, fruto de una situación de cristiandad, sin grandes fundamentos y con escasa formación. Urge que los cristianos nos planteemos el hecho de nuestra fe: por qué creemos, en qué creemos y cómo creemos. Muchas veces la fe se reduce a una religiosidad popular, plagada de incoherencias, mal entendida, y con conocimientos evangélicos cogidos con alfileres. De ahí algunas posturas o reacciones ante ciertos acontecimientos y sentimentalismos, expuestas a las ideologías o a las nuevas corrientes de pensamiento en voga.
