Una Congregación religiosa reunida en Capítulo General
Se trata de la Congregación de los Sagrados Corazones de Jesús y de María. Reunida en Roma, durante el mes de septiembre, por medio de sus representantes delegados por todos los miembros de la Congregación, en Capítulo General.
¿Qué es el Capítulo General de una Congregación? Es un foro de reflexión, de discernimiento y de revisión, sobre la marcha de la Congregación: sus aciertos, sus problemas, por dónde quiere caminar en los años siguientes, dónde quiere poner sus principales acentos, en conformidad con su Carisma dentro de la Iglesia, en el mundo actual. El tema principal, en torno al cual giran casi todos los demás es el de la MISIÓN.
El Capítulo se retoma cada seis años, y en él se dan orientaciones y se legisla para ese periodo de tiempo. En él, también se hace la elección del Superior General de toda la Congregación, así como los Consejeros que le asisten en el Gobierno.
Actualmente, el Superior General es el P. Javier Alvarez Ossorio que nació en Sevilla en 1962, el segundo de tres hermanos. Estudió en el Colegio San José SS.CC. Profesó sus votos temporales en la Congregación de los Sagrados Corazones en 1982. Cursó el Bachillerato en Teología en el Centro de Estudios Teológicos. En 1987 fue ordenado sacerdote por el arzobispo de Sevilla, el Cardenal Amigo Vallejo en la Parroquia de los Sagrados Corazones. Trabajó en diversas obras de la Congregación en Andalucía, especialmente con los más desfavorecidos, antes de realizar la licenciatura bíblica en el Instituto Católico de París. Tras estos estudios, fue destinado a la República Democrática del Congo en 1993. En 2001 fue elegido primer Superior Provincial de África y reelegido en 2004. En 2006 fue elegido como Superior General, por seis años, reelegible por otros seis.
Para los que conocen (no pocos) al P. Fernando Cordero, Superior de la Comunidad de San Fernando (Cádiz), y párroco de la parroquia de El Buen Pastor, les comunico (aunque muchos lo saben) que forma parte de los miembros del Capítulo, elegido democráticamente por la Provincia Ibérica de los SS.CC (España y Portugal), por lo que permanecerá en Roma todo el mes de septiembre.
Al mismo tiempo que los Hermanos religiosos, las Hermanas de los ss.cc, también celebran su Capítulo General, y tendrán temas comunes, dado que forman una sola Congregación.
