Domingo XXIII del Tiempo Ordinario
(Hace oír a los sordos y hablar a los mudos)
La primera lectura, tomada del profeta Isaías (35, 4-7a), nos habla de la gran noticia que el profeta da a los desterrados de Israel: van a ser liberados, y tienen que ir preparando su espíritu para el gran acontecimiento de la liberación: “Decid a los cobardes de corazón: sed fuertes. Mirad que viene Dios a salvaros”. Y describe esa alegría como aquel que siendo sordo, comienza a oír, el que está ciego, comienza a ver, el cojo podrá saltar como un cervatillo, los que son mudos, podrán comenzar a hablar y cantar. En el reseco desierto, habrá agua abundante, ríos y torrente…”
Jesús, que nos trae la salvación, va repitiendo esos mismos gestos de salvación. En este caso es el sordomudo, que le presentan para que lo cure. Jesús con un gesto sencillo, tocándolo con la mano, le devuelve la normalidad. Y los oídos del sordo se abren y la lengua del mudo se pone a hablar. Son signos de la actuación de Dios a favor del hombre. Son los signos del Reino que está en marcha.
Cuando los discípulos de Juan Bautista van a preguntar a Jesús si es él al que esperan, Jesús les responde:”Id y decid a Juan, lo q ueestáis viendo y oyendo: los ciegos ven; los sordos oyen; los cojos andan, y a los pobres se les anuncia la Buena Noticia”. Son las mismas palabras de Isaías. Pero Jesús añade algo:”a los pobres se les anuncia la buena noticia”.
Y ¿cuál puede ser una buena noticia para un pobre? Que van a encontrar solución a sus problemas, que se va a sentir queridos y respetados, que nadie les va a considerar menos por tener menos, que van a ser tratados con dignidad y sin acepción de personas… Esas cosas harían felices a los pobres, aunque no se les ofreciesen grandes riquezas. Cosas que, por otra parte, no se les ofrece. Por eso El Apóstol Santiago escribe a alguna de las primeras comunidades cristianas, reprochándoles su manera de actuar. Lo hemos escuchado en la segunda lectura:”Hermanos no os dejéis llevar del favoritismo. Por ejemplo: llegan dos hombres a la reunión de la Eucaristía. Uno va bien vestido y hasta con anillos en los dedos; el otro es un pobre mal vestido. Veis al bien vestido y le decís: Por favor siéntate aquí, en el puesto reservado. Al pobre, en cambio, le decís: Estate ahí de pie o siéntate en el suelo”.
En este comportamiento no hay una buena noticia para el pobre; sigue estando discriminado, con menos dignidad que el rico.
¡Cuántas veces las personas somos sordos y mudos! No oímos las palabras de Jesús, ni denunciamos las injusticias. Hace falta que Jesús nos toque y nos diga las palabras que hemos oído en el evangelio: “effeta”, ábrete. Abrir el oído y soltar la lengua, para ver y oír las injusticias, y para levantar la voz en favor de los marginados. Entonces podremos decir que el Reino de Dios ha llegado a nuestros corazones, y podrá extenderse por el mundo.

Las personas somos sordos y mudos y no denunciamos la injusticia porque estamos paralizados por el miedo, habilmente manejado por los gobernantes.Por miedo las revoluciones se quedan a las puertas de su materialización. Miedo a ser descubierto tuvo Manuel Cristóbal, miembro de la ejecutiva del PCE en la clandestinidad, y a salir de su refugio cuando enfermó. Miedo a ser torturado y a señalar a sus compañeros y por eso prefirió no abandonar su escondite. Falleció de apendicitis, en 1957. En la misma medida la historia se reprodujo con José Luis Arrieta, Azkoiti, cuya agonía la sufrió en clandestinidad y falleció en 2001.
