¿Indiferencia o desengaño?
Una de las últimas consultas a los jóvenes, nos dice que se consideran indiferentes ante ciertas cosas, instituciones, o situaciones; y esta indiferencia proviene, en gran parte, del desengaño que produce en ellos ciertas maneras de ser, de actuar, de comportarse los adultos. Y concretamente, en este caso, los políticos y todo lo que rodea a la política.
El resultado de esa encuesta o consulta nos aporta estos datos: el 76 % de los jóvenes consulados no se interesan por la política; y al 13% le da igual quién gobierne.
Este pasotismo no deja de ser un dato revelador y preocupante. Si a esto se agrega el indiferentismo respecto a la Iglesia, el panorama es desolador. Las dos instituciones más fuertes e influyentes en la vida de los ciudadanos pasan a ser indiferentes en las generaciones que por sí mismas deberían ser más críticas.
No es un buen síntoma para el futuro (y el presente) de la sociedad. Los datos no nos permiten soñar con una juventud que goza de buena salud.
Debiéramos preguntarnos el por qué de este distanciamiento de los jóvenes. Una de las razones (no la única) es que hemos hablado mucho de la juventud, pero no hemos contado suficientemente con los jóvenes como protagonistas de su propia historia. San Juan Bosco, gran conocedor y amigo de los jóvenes, decía algo que nadie en la iglesia debería olvidar:”Procura amar lo que aman los jóvenes, para que los jóvenes amen lo que amas tú”.
Existe un dicho, elevado a la categoría de principio, que dice: “Sólo se aprende por curiosidad o por necesidad”. Pero ni la política, ni la iglesia, hoy, suscitan curiosidad en los jóvenes; y podemos afirmar con ellos, que no la necesitan para nada.
El éxodo juvenil es cada vez más temprano; a veces son todavía adolescentes, que normalmente hablando, estarían en la edad de los grandes ideales. Y es patente que no afecta sólo a determinados grupos sociológicos con problemas que pudieran incidir con más fuerza en su abandono. Es un fenómeno generalizado, global.
Una de las sensaciones que tienen los jóvenes, es la de no sentirse suficientemente comprendidos por los mayores, que actúan según sus propios intereses, pero no piensan en las generaciones para el futuro.
Toda persona incomprendida, se siente rechazada. Y los jóvenes tienen muy claro que los mayores no se esfuerzan por entrar en sus coordenadas vitales.
No entienden, su talante desgarrado, a veces displicente o agresivo. (¡Tienen tantos motivos para sentirse agresivos!). No entienden su indiferencia (indiferencia ante lo que no comprenden). No entienden que quieran decir una palabra en la sociedad, en donde ser mudo es el estado perfecto. (Ya están los adultos para hablar). No entienden que sean jóvenes, cuando ellos han dejado de serlo.
Los jóvenes son vitalistas, pero carecen del sentido de la vida. No se lo cuestionan como algo importante en la existencia humana. Viven sólo el presente; y lo importante es el disfrute del momento. Sólo interesa lo que es gratificante. Las grandes preguntas no anidan ni en la curiosidad del joven, ni en sus intereses, ni en su preocupación. Sólo importa lo cercano, lo inmediato. Lo contrario del “sentido” es el “absurdo”. Pero esa alternativa, tampoco es considerada por los jóvenes. Por eso es muy difícil ayudarles a descubrir el sentido de sus vidas; porque no creen necesitarlo. Lo que les importa es la vida aquí y ahora.
Los jóvenes del 68 que tomaron simbólicamente la Bastillaera una generación rebelde e insatisfecha, que exigía unos derechos y protestaban por sentirse desplazados e ignorados en la sociedad. Pero los jóvenes actuales no tienen ninguna “Bastilla” que ocupar; sólo desean como ha dicho alguien: “que los adultos nos vayamos a dormir y les dejemos la noche”. ¡No parecen demasiadas aspiraciones!
Si queremos que los jóvenes vuelvan a interesarse por las cosas importantes (Iglesia y Política), tenemos que empezar por darles cabida en ellas, conocer sus aspiraciones, contar con ellos en la medida de sus posibilidades. De lo contrario, estaremos colaborando a una juventud desgajada de la sociedad, desengañada e indiferente.
