Diálogo de Jesús y Judas
Jesús había terminado en Cafarnaúm su jornada de trabajo. Y, antes de regresar a Nazaret, quiso pasarse por la orilla del lago; aquel pequeño mar, que proporcionaba el sustento diario a tantas familias de pescadores. Esperaba encontrar por allí a Pedro, o a algún otro del gremio. También Judas merodeaba por allí. Era su día de descanso, y aprovechaba para “catequizar”, a su modo, a algunos jóvenes que estuvieran descontentos con la situación actual, referente a los romanos. Cada día les subían los impuestos; y a eso se unía que, de vez en cuando, les requisaban la pesca, que iba a parar a las legiones romanas, acuarteladas en la zona, para mantener a raya a aquella región levantisca.
La orilla del lago, con sus aguas generalmente tranquilas, era buen lugar para iniciar una conversación, o para continuar la iniciada ya en días anteriores. De alguna manera, podríamos decir que tanto Judas como Jesús se buscaban. Ninguno de los dos cedía en su empeño de ganar aquel pugilato, no solo verbal, sino, también, de ideas y sentimientos.
— ¡Hola, Judas! Está la tarde preciosa, ¿no? Supongo que nuestros amigos, habrán tenido una buena pesca. Se lo merecen, porque es duro, y, a veces, ingrato, su trabajo.
— Eso, si no han tenido la mala suerte de que esos cretinos y desalmado se lo hayan requisado. Ganas dan de envenenar la pesca, y que desaparezca, para siempre, un buen número de soldados.
— Judas ¿por qué siempre elijes el camino de la violencia? ¿Por qué? Bienaventurados los pacíficos, porque de ellos es el Reino de Dios.
— El Reino de Dios, tal como tú lo entiendes, será de los pacíficos. Yo, desde luego, no me encuentro entre ellos. Pero el Reino de Israel es nuestro, de los judíos. Y, sin embargo, ahí tienes a Pilatos, sentado como gobernador, en nombre del emperador de Roma.
— Tampoco a mí me agrada que un pueblo esté sometido a otro. Con mayor razón, si el sometido, como en este caso, es el nuestro. Pero, por el momento, habrá que dar al César lo que es del César, y a Dios lo que es de Dios.
— A Dios debe importarle poco quién domine y quién mande. Pero nosotros, el pueblo, sufrimos la tiranía de los vencedores. Luchemos por conquistar lo que es nuestro.
— Judas, amigo, tienes el corazón lleno de odio; y eso no te ayuda a ver otra cosa que no sea violencia, venganza, lucha… Con todo eso en el corazón, no se puede tener paz, ni se puede ser feliz. ¿Tú eres feliz?
— ¿Lo eres tú? No creo que se pueda ser feliz en las circunstancias actuales. ¿Dónde está el Reino de Israel, ese Reino que, a lo largo de una larga historia, nos ha costado tanto mantener?
— Y ¿dónde está el Reino de Dios? Desde luego, no en la venganza, ni en la revancha, ni en la lucha armada. La ley del Talión, “ojo por ojo, y diente por diente”, ha sido superada, por el perdón.
— Tampoco está en la injusticia, en el dominio del más fuerte, en la usurpación de lo ajeno.
— Ciertamente, tampoco. Pero, sin abandonar el deseo de la independencia de nuestro pueblo, que todos deseamos, debemos tener presente, y procurar para todos, ese otro Reino, que no es de este mundo: el Reino de Dios.
— Y ¿quién va a conseguir en la actual situación, que se implante eso que tú llamas el Reino de Dios? Comencemos por recuperar nuestro Reino de este mundo. Después vendrá ese otro Reino de que hablas, y que no acabo de comprender del todo en qué consiste.
— Judas, tú conoces, como yo, las Escrituras. En ellas se habla de que Dios es el Rey de Israel. Es el mismo profeta Jeremías quien nos lo recuerda:”Vosotros seréis mi pueblo, y yo seré vuestro Dios, vuestro Rey”.
Judas necesitaba rumiar aquellas palabras, que conocía, y había oído comentar en la Sinagoga. Pero dichas de aquella manera, por Jesús, parecían distintas. ¿Y si aquel joven de Nazaret, llevara razón?
La tarde empezaba a decaer, la luz vespertina matizaba el agua del lago, y el color plateado de aquella masa, casi inmóvil, se teñía del arrebol de la puesta del sol.
Se despidieron. Sin duda volverían a verse. Simplemente, dijeron: Shalón.
