(¿Quién dice la gente que soy yo?
Los apóstoles ya llevaban un buen tiempo con Jesús, y deberían saber contestar a las preguntas que Jesús les hace, y hemos escuchado en la lectura del evangelio de hoy. Dos preguntas. Una: ¿quién dice la gente que soy yo? Seguro que oían muchos comentarios a la gente, y tenían que saber lo que la gente opinaba. La otra es más personal. Y también tenían que saber contestar. Era una simple opinión sobre él:” y vosotros ¿quién decís que soy yo?
Jesús tenía curiosidad por saber lo que la gente opinaba de él y qué era lo que sus mismos discípulos pensaban, también, de él. ¿Era mera curiosidad, o era, más bien, el deseo de saber si su manera de actuar , de hablar, de comportarse, estaba influyendo en la gente, y si sus discípulos iban captando su misión, su manera de actuar, tan distinta de la de los escribas, sacerdotes, y fariseos.
Como se ve por la respuesta, la gente no tenía una idea clara sobre quién era Jesús, y manifestaban opiniones distintas: unos que Juan Bautista, que había sido decapitado por orden de Herodes, otros que el gran profeta Elías, que hacía siglos que había muerto, o bien algún otro profeta que habría vuelto a la vida. La cosa no estaba nada clara, y la confusión era notable. Pero captaban que era alguien muy importante, por los personajes con que le identificaban, que para ellos habían sido grandes profetas.
Pero ¿y ellos? Estaban viviendo con él, recibiendo, de manera bien cercana, su enseñanza, tanto teórica, como práctica. Tendrían que tener una opinión bastante clara. Nadie contestaba. Fue Pedro, una vez más, quien tomó la palabra, y, por cierto, muy acertada, y dijo: “Tú eres el Mesías de Dios”. Imaginemos que Jesús nos preguntase, hoy, a nosotros:¿Quién decís que soy yo? ¿Alguno se atrevería a responderle? Que cada uno piense, en otro momento, qué le contestaría. Y que piense, también, si du respuesta, respondería a lo que hemos escuchado a otros (catequesis, predicación, lecturas, etc), o su respuesta sería fruto de su experiencia, de su trato con él en la oración, de la meditación de su vida y sus obras, de su Evangelio.
