Domingo XXXIII del Tiempo Ordinario
(Con vuestra perseverancia salvaréis vuestras almas)
Esta parte del evangelio que hemos leído, hoy, es difícil por una razón muy sencilla. Porque mezcla frases y relatos con lenguaje apocalíptico, un género literario que expresa la situación difícil en que estaban viviendo los cristianos, de persecuciones y dificultades por parte de las autoridades romanas. Las comunidades cristianas eran perseguidas, mientras que por otra parte esperaban ya cercano, el fin de los tiempos.
Es difícil distinguir lo que corresponde a dichos de Jesús, en medio de tanta literatura apocalíptica. Pero fijémonos en estas palabras de Jesús, respondiendo a la pregunta que le hacen de cuándo van a ocurrir todos esos anuncios de persecuciones y destrucción. Dice Jesús:” Que nadie os engañe. Porque vendrán muchos, en nombre mío, diciendo: Yo soy; No vayáis tras ellos”.
Hoy vemos cómo esas palabras de Jesús se han cumplido en todos los tiempos, y hoy también se cumplen, tal vez de manera más clara.
Vemos que surgen por todos lados gentes que ofrecen una salvación distinta a la que ofrece Jesús. Gente, falsos profetas, que traen doctrinas que no encajan con la de Jesús. Unos prometen el oro y e moro para este mundo y para el otro, mientras que otros parecen profetas de las desgracias y de las amenazas. Pero todos tratan de ganarse sus seguidores, negando o desfigurando el Evangelio de Jesús.
“No vayáis tras ellos”, dice Jesús. Perseverad en vuestra adhesión a Cristo-Jesús; y “con vuestra perseverancia, salvaréis vuestras almas”.
Hoy día, más que nunca, nos acecha la tentación de seguir a los falsos profetas, de adorar a falsos dioses, de aceptar, engañosas doctrinas.
Podemos y debemos dar gracias a Dios los que vivimos en un país relativamente tranquilo, en el que uno puede ejercer y vivir la religión que quiera, sin ser molestados o perseguidos por ello. Pero, sabemos, que hay, actualmente, muchos países en los que los cristianos son perseguido y martirizados, tanto o más que en las famosas persecuciones de los emperadores romanos. Pidamos por todos esos hermanos nuestros, fieles a Cristo, que prefieren sufrir martirio, persecución y muerte, antes de dejar de seguir a Jesús. Y aprendamos de ellos esa fidelidad y ese fiarse de Dios, que aunque les quiten la vida, nunca podrán quitarles el amor de Dios, y su voluntad.
