II Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario
(Este es el Cordero de Dios, que quita el pecado del mundo)
Este domingo, aunque corresponde al ciclo de domingos del “tiempo ordinario”, se halla todavía muy cercano al tiempo de Navidad y Epifanía, y, por ello, el Evangelio se parece tanto al que escuchamos el domingo pasado, fiesta del Bautismo del Señor. Juan Bautista presenta a Jesús como Hijo de Dios, el Enviado.
Vamos a fijarnos en dos aspectos importantes: 1) Jesús se presenta con la fuerza de los “no violentos”; y 2) aparece como portador de una misión universal.
Juan le presenta como “cordero de Dios que quita el pecado del mundo”. Esta expresión, que decimos siempre en la celebración de la Eucaristía, es posible que no la entendamos. ¿Llamar a Jesús: Cordero? Para entender bien esta expresión tenemos que situarnos en tiempos de Jesús, en el pueblo judío, que conocía perfectamente lo dicho por el profeta Isaías, ocho siglos antes. Hablando del Mesías, que había de llegar, decía: “Maltratado, se humillaba y no abría la boca, como cordero llevado al matadero”.
Y, también, hace referencia al “cordero Pascual”, con cuya sangre, los hebreos habían sido liberados de la esclavitud de Egipto.
Por tanto, decir que Jesús era el cordero de Dios equivale a destacar uno de los aspectos fundamentales de su misión: llevar a los hombres a la verdadera libertad, no por la fuerza y el poder, sino por la paciencia contra el mal. Este es el cordero de Dios, que decía Juan, se podría traducir, diciendo: Este es el modelo perfecto de la no violencia.
El otro aspecto de las palabras de Juan sobre Jesús, es que Cristo se presenta con una misión para todos los hombres de la tierra. Nos afirma que quita el pecado de todos. No solo de “muchos”, como dice la traducción del Misal renovado, sino por todos, por toda la humanidad. La “misión” de Jesús” ayudarnos a comprender y vivir lo que sería el reino, o reinado, de Dios, que, sencillamente, consiste en construir un mundo como lo quiere Dios.
