El Servicio Informativo Vaticano (VIS) ha dado a conocer el contenido de la homilía matutina de Benedicto XVI del 1 de diciembre. Una misionera desde Mozambique me decía que “¡qué alegría que se asocie a Damián con la sencillez!”. Damián de Molokai y Teresa de Lisieux, la religiosa contemplativa, patrona de las misiones; en el fondo, dos santos misioneros, que trataron de alcanzar el misterio de Dios a través del amor.
Ya lo dice el Evangelio, “te doy gracias, Padre, porque has revelado estas cosas a los sencillos y humildes de corazón”. Teresa y Damián descubrieron la sabiduría que nace del corazón de los que se hacen pequeños y tocan la hondura de la experiencia cristiana. Buena sintonía la de ambos santos. Un acierto que agradecemos a Benedicto XVI. Les dejo con la noticia del VIS.
Benedicto XVI celebró la Santa Misa esta mañana temprano en la Capilla Paulina del Palacio Apostólico Vaticano con los miembros de la Comisión Teológica Internacional.
En la homilía, el Papa delineó la figura del verdadero teólogo, que no cae en la tentación de medir con el metro de su inteligencia el misterio de Dios, y afirmó que en los últimos doscientos años, por lo que respecta al estudio de la Sagrada Escritura, “hay especialistas y (…) maestros de la fe que han penetrado en los detalles (…) de la historia de la salvación. Pero no han podido ver el misterio en sí mismo, el núcleo central; que Cristo era realmente el Hijo de Dios”.
Pero en la historia de la Iglesia, prosiguió el Santo Padre, hay una larga lista de hombres y mujeres capaces de humildad y de llegar a la verdad, y citó entre ellos a Santa Teresa de Lisieux, a San Damián de Veuster, “pequeños que llegaron a ser doctos”, modelos en los que inspirarse, “que pueden anunciar su misterio porque se sintieron tocados en lo profundo del corazón”.
“Después de la resurrección -concluyó el Papa-, el Señor toca el corazón de Saulo en el camino de Damasco, de Saulo que es uno de los doctos que no ven. (…) Se vuelve ciego y al mismo tiempo vidente. El gran sabio pasa a ser pequeño y ve la (…) sabiduría de Dios (…) más grande que todas las sabidurías humanas”.
