Un apunte sobre la Iglesia y el Reino
El Papa Pablo VI, aquel gran Papa que quiso abandonar el Vaticano para vivir en otro lugar menos ostentoso, y que no le fue posible porque la Curia vaticana se cerró en banda (tal vez por miedo a perder privilegios), dice en su preciosa Encíclica “Evangelii Nuntiandi”, que “sólo el Reino es absoluto. Todo lo demás es relativo”.
Jesús entiende el Reino de una manera muy abierta, es decir muy ecuménica., porque el Reino es Vida, es Verdad, es Justicia, es Paz, es Gracia, es Amor… Por eso, donde se encuentra una parte de estas realidades, hay presencia del Reino. Y como por el mundo hay mucho bueno de todo eso, también hay mucho del Reino. Dios no se limita a unos pocos, ni a una sola iglesia, para hacer crecer su Reino. Y nadie ni nada tiene la exclusiva de hacer crecer el Reino.
El Reino de Dios no se limita, ni se identifica, con la Iglesia católica; no consiste principalmente en bautizar, catequizar, distribuir los sacramentos, perfeccionar la institución eclesiástica. Todo esto es importante en orden a construir el Reino, pero nada de eso es equiparable a él.
Nadie ni nada se puede adueñar de Dios y de su Reino; nadie tiene “patente de corso” para gestionarlo en solitario o en condiciones de ventaja. Aquella frase de San Pablo (1 Corintios, 3, 6): “Yo planté, Apolo regó, pero fue Dios quien lo hizo crecer”, aclara perfectamente quien es el motor del Reino, y quién o qué tan solo las herramientas. Para ser bueno, justo, caritativo, servicial, solidario, etc… no hace falta ser cristiano. Hay mucha gente no cristiana que es ejemplar en su vida y en relación con los demás.
Recuerdo el pasaje evangélico en que los discípulos le dicen a Jesús: “Hemos visto a uno que echaba demonios, y se lo hemos impedido porque no era de los nuestros”. Jesús les responde que no deben prohibírselo, ya que todo el que hace el bien no puede estar en contra suya. Todo el que hace el bien, construye el Reino. Y hacer el bien no es patrimonio de los cristianos.
Acabo de leer el libro que lleva por título:“Estamos todos en la misma barca”. En uno de los diálogos entre el Cardenal Martini y el P. Luis Mª Verzé, éste le pregunta: “¿No cree usted que un Gandhi desnudo es más elocuente que un Papa con su mitra?”. La pregunta no puede ser más elocuente ni más sugerente.
