Es la tentación de la avaricia, de la riqueza, del poder. Pero acosta de renunciar a que Dios sea lo primero. Jesús sólo podía adorar al Padre. Sólo Dios es digno de ser adorado; sólo ante Dios debemos arrodillarnos. Por eso Jesús responderá con esas palabras que resumen su actitud: “Sólo a al Señor, tu Dios, adorarás, y a él sólo darás culto”. Todo lo demás es idolatría, es llenarse de dioses falsos que no salvan: la fama, el prestigio, el dinero, el poder…La última de las tentaciones que nos narra el evangelista (Lucas, en este caso), es la de llamar la atención haciéndose el famoso, y renunciando a la sencillez, para crearse un prestigio con actuaciones extraordinarias que no encajan en su vida y enseñanzas. Esta tentación se expresa en las labras: “Tírate desde lo más alto del templo, porque no te harás daño al caer, y así te ganarás la atención y admiración de la gente”. Jesús contesta:” No tentarás al Señor, tu Dios”. A Dios hay que acudir, pero no par nuestra vanagloria y capricho.
Por tanto, Jesús fue tentado, como lo somos todos, tarde o temprano. Pero así como nosotros caemos de vez en cuando, Jesús no cayó nunca en la tentación. Por eso nosotros pedimos en el Padrenuestro:”No nos dejes caer en la tentación”.
La gran tentación es la de hacer nuestra propia voluntad, lo que cada uno quiere, lo que nos apetece, independientemente de si coincide o no con la voluntad de Dios. Independizarse de Dios, constituirnos en pequeños dioses que dictamos las normas de nuestra conducta. En definitiva a eso se reducen todas las tentaciones. La tentación que nos narra el Libro del Génesis, en el Paraíso, es esta: si haces eso contra lo mandado por Dios, seréis como Dios.
