En el mundo, sin ser del mundo
Lo que voy a comentar es este breve texto de San Juan: “El mundo los odió, porque no son del mundo, igual que yo no soy del mundo. No pido que los saques del mundo, sino que los libres del Maligno. No son del mundo, igual que yo no soy del mundo” (Jn. 17).
Jesús pronuncia estas palabras, en una oración que hace al Padre, pidiendo por sus discípulos; y, por tanto, también por nosotros, los creyentes, sus seguidores. Le queda poco tiempo de estar con los once, pero quiere dejarlos a buen recaudo.
Hace una afirmación y una petición. Afirma que “no son del mundo”, y pide que “los libre del maligno”.
La palabra “mundo” en boca de Jesús, significa “lo mundano”, es decir, lo que no está en consonancia con los planes de Dios. Y en ese sentido, los seguidores de Jesús no deben considerarse del mundo. No se refiere a la sociedad, porque sí que formamos parte de ella.
Cuando habla del “maligno” se refiere al mal en general, personificado en personas y en sus actuaciones malas.
Las palabras de Jesús, además de un ruego al Padre, son también una advertencia a sus seguidores, para que no colaboren al mal existente.
Pero Jesús pide, también que no nos saque del mundo, porque estamos en el mundo, el mal está a nuestro alrededor, nos circunvala. Y tenemos que estar atentos para no ceder a sus insinuaciones.
Tenemos que vivir en el mundo, en la sociedad, para cambiarlo; para servir de levadura que transforme toda la masa. Esa es la labor del cristiano en la sociedad, ser testigos de otra realidad, de otras ideas, de otro comportamiento.
La tentación de desierto está siempre presente. La tentación de aislarse de los problemas de los demás, de la política en el sentido más genuino de la palabra, de sentirse solidario con la comunidad humana, es una tentación perversa, egoísta y deshumanizadora.
Hay que estar en el mundo con todas sus consecuencias, sobre todo en su lucha contra las injusticias y todo aquello que hace indigno e infeliz a las personas.
Dios creó el mundo, y nos ha dado el encargo de re-crearlo, es decir, de mejorar las condiciones de vida, de hacerlo más habitable, de orientarlo hacia su creador.
Había una frase en el movimiento “por un mundo mejor” que decía: “tenemos que convertir el mund,o de selvático en humano, de humano en divino, según el corazón de Dios”. Es un buen programa para todos, pero especialmente para los cristianos.
