Significado de las palabras: “Paráclito” y “Pentecostés”
Aunque “a toro pasado” como se dice en el argot taurino, quiero explicar lo que significan estas dos palabras: “Paráclito” y “Pentecostés”.
EL PARÁCLITO, es una palabra de origen griego “parakletos”, que literalmente significa “aquel que es invocado”. Es por tanto el abogado, el mediador, el defensor, el consolador. Se aplica al Espíritu Santo, y define su función. Jesús nos presenta al Espíritu Santo diciendo: “El Padre os dará otro Paráclito” (Jn 14,16). Pertenece a la literatura de San Juan, el único de los apóstoles que la usa.
En cuanto a la palabra PENTECOSTÉS (que también proviene del griego), originariamente era una fiesta judía, y se llamaba “fiesta de las siete semanas”, porque tenía lugar siete semanas después de la recogida de los primeros frutos (como consta en el libro del Levítico y Deuteronomio). Las siete semanas equivalían a cincuenta días, de ahí el nombre de Pentecostés (cincuenta), que se dio más tarde a esa fiesta. Se celebraba al finalizar la cosecha de la cebada, y antes de comenzar la del trigo.
En un principio tenía el sentido de acción de gracias por la cosecha recogida. Más tarde se le añadió otro sentido más: se recordaba la Alianza hecha por Dios con el pueblo, y la entrega de la Ley.
Es en esta fiesta, donde el autor de los Hechos de los Apóstoles coloca la venida del Espíritu Santo sobre los apóstoles, una vez que Jesús ha ascendido al cielo. Desde entonces, se convierte en una fiesta cristiana. La más importante, después de la Pascua.
