La fiesta de Pentecostés que celebramos hoy, es, como sabéis, el final del tiempo de Pascua. Es, por otra parte, el comienzo de la Iglesia. Los apósotoles reciben esa fuerza que les da Jesús después de su resurrección y Ascensión al cielo, y se convieten de hombres miedosos, incapaces de aparecer en publico, por miedo a los judíos, en hombre valientes, capaces de jugarse la vida por predicar a Cristo, como así ocurriría.Todos, antes o después, fueron mártires por defender las enseñanzs que habían recibido de Jesús.
Se suele decir que con la venida del Espíritu Santo, el día de Pentecostés, comienzan a colocarse los cimientos de la Iglesia. Sugen grupos y comunidades portodas partes, dispuestos a seguir las enseñanzas de Jesús. Los apóstoles se desviven por acudir a un lugar y otro, sosteniendo la fe incipiente de aquellas comunidades, muchos de sus miembros son, también, perseguidos, sobre todo en el Imperio romano, y dan alegrmente sus vidas , antes de renegar de su fe.
Así comienza la Iglesia, entre persecuciones y dificultades. Pero como era obra de dios, sigue adelante, hasta nuestros días, despu´ñes de haber atravesado más de veinte siglos. Con sus luces y sus sombras, ciertamente, porque aunque sea la obra de Jesús, es también obras de los hombres, y propio del hombre es la equivocación y el pecado.
Hay quien se dice creyente, y no ama a la Iglesia. ¡Tremenda equivocación! Yo puedo decir que tengo motivos sobrados para amar a la Iglesia, aunque reconozca su imperfección, y desearía que se purificase en muchos aspectos. Amo a la Iglesia porque en ella he encontrado la fe, a través de mis padres y de otras personas de iglesia; porque en ella encuentro los buenos ejemplos de muchos hermanos (santos o no); porque en ella encuentro las fuerzas para vivir mi fe: los sacramentos, la gracia de Dios, etc. Y amo a la Iglesia porque Jesús también la ama.
Demos gracias al Espíritu Santo y pidámosle que nos llene de su fuerza para ser cada día más fieles a nuestra fe, y capaces de dar testimonio en el seguimiento de Jesús, y en la vivencia del Evangelio.
