Los colores del Otoño
Existen ciertos entretenimientos, que son inocentes, no molestan a nadie, y divierten a algunos. Hay quien los considerará “infantiles”, aburridos, sin gracia. Pero lo que a unos aburre o desespera, a otros divierte y enardece. Recuerdo que cuando era niño, jugábamos a ver quién contaba más automóviles cuya matrícula fuese de una provincia u otra. Y había que vernos, con el ojo avizor, a orillas de la carretera, para ganar el gran trofeo automovilístico. Era evidente que para nosotros era divertido y entretenido. De lo contrario nos hubiéramos marchado a la plaza del pueblo, a jugar a “pídola”, o a tirar de las coletas a las niñas de nuestra edad. (Que también nos divertía, aunque fuese un tanto cruel). Otro juego que recuerdo, consistía en adivinar los colores de las diversas banderas de cada una de las naciones de Europa (no nos llegaba la cultura, a otros continentes). El que más acertaba recibía el sobrenombre de “el abanderado”. Y lo retenía hasta que otro le desplazaba. Hoy día, pasados tantísimos años, me parece casi heroico el que nos divirtiésemos de manera tan inocente e ingenua.
El título de este post: “El color del Otoño”, no deja de ser un tanto extraño, probablemente, para algunos. Tal vez sea reminiscencia de aquellos juegos infantiles de mi niñez. Tampoco merece la pena, ni hay que empeñarse mucho en que tenga más o menos sentido hablar de colores al referirse a una estación meteorológica. Pero como no hace daño a nadie, como aquellos juegos del pasado, y además, a mí me gusta, dejémoslo así.
Por otra parte, creo poder afirmar que el otoño es la más cromática de las cuatro estaciones. La primavera es verde, el invierno apenas tiene color, el verano, prefiere el amarillo del sol; solo el otoño tiene todos los colores del arco-iris.
Hay quien dice que el otoño es triste: se caen las hojas de los árboles, las nubes cubren el azul del cielo, empezamos a sacar los abrigos que nos cubrirán de gris o de marrón. Y no hay flores en el campo. Pero previamente a la caída de la hoja, y en los árboles de hoja perenne, hay tal variedad de verdes, marrones, grises, fucsias, etc, que parece la paleta del mejor pintor. Me gusta el otoño, porque tiene un colorido variado, además de sobrio.
Hay otro “otoño”, que es sobre el que yo quiero reflexionar. Es el llamado “otoño de la vida”. En la vida se vive una primavera, un verano, y un otoño. No existe el invierno. Pues bien, prefiero situarme en pleno otoño vital. Pasó la primavera, pasó el verano. Y en las postrimerías de la vida, uno se encuentra, de lleno, en el otoño. Una estación llena de colores muy matizados, donde los colores muy vivos desaparecen y se acentúan más los grises, los marrones, los menos llamativos. Pero que le dan su personalidad, como la pintura de Zurbarán, en sus monjes de túnicas pardas, de estameña.
