Hace unos días leí a no sé qué político sentir perplejidad porque en un país oficialmente laico como España, cada día los periódicos y, hasta la TV, trajeran las declaraciones de los obispos.
Pues sí, a pesar del político los obispos todavía están omnipresentes en el entramado social, como lo están en la iglesia, casa de por sí muy natural, aunque uno preferiría que la misma presencia la tuvieran, los seglares, las comunidades parroquiales, los religiosos. Que no se pensara que la Iglesia sólo son ellos.
Y más, cuando tengo a sensación de que su presencia en los medios es percibida por los ciudadanos como impositiva, dogmática y poco alentadora. Digo percibida, aunque tal vez no sea esta su intención.
Wittgenstein decía que “sobre el sentido de una palabra, lo que decide es su uso en el lenguaje “, es decir, lo que esa palabra evoca para el común de los mortales.
Esto se puede aplicar a los obispos cuando salen a la palestra pública, una cosa es lo que quieren decir y dicen y otra como la entienden y resuenan en los oídos de los ciudada – nos.
Me da la impresión de que el ciudadano medio, el no practicante y, por supuesto, el no creyente se fijan más en quién lo dice y cómo lo dice, que en lo que realmente dicen.
Por eso no estaría de más una llamada a nuestros obispos para que se acercaran a la gente con más humildad y empatía.
Desde mi condición de creyente y de miembro de la comunidad cristiana me atrevería a sugerirles varias cosas.
Una, que hablaran más del Dios Amor y Padre, como lo hacía Jesús. Eso no impide manifestar sus convicciones y su responsabilidad como guías y pastores. Que hablen del evangelio en un lenguaje más pastoral y menos “político”.
Me gustaría de vez en cuando ver cómo oran los obispos, cómo nos abren su corazón compartiendo la fe y hasta cómo dejan el hieratismo y la lejanía n las celebraciones televisadas. Ojalá pudieran entender que los gestos hablan y que la gente sencilla “ve” más que “escucha”.
Otra cosa que me gustaría de ellos en sus apariciones públicas, en sus pastorales, en sus salidas en prensa que fueran muy humanos; que dejaran por un momento los signos de su magisterio,-mitra y báculo-, y compartieran los gozos y las tristezas, las alegrías y las penas de tanta gente a los que vivir cada día se les hace penoso y difícil. Que su lenguaje, antes que teológico, fuera un lenguaje de misericordia, de ternura, de compren- sión. Esto sí sería, además de evangélico, inteligible para creyentes y no creyentes.
Es importante la doctrina, pero tanto o más son las personas.
